Kremlinologists during the Cold War used to draw conclusions about Soviet policy from what was being reported in the media. That’s still a sensible policy when trying to understand the agenda of totalitarian regimes like Russia, North Korea, China, Turkey, Qatar, or… the Democrat media.

And by that I mean the media. 

There was little question about why the Hunter Biden story was suppressed before the election. The more relevant question is why it’s being reported now. 

Yes, the Biden-Harris campaign and Hunter Biden have officially commented on the investigation, where before they just stonewalled on it, after an official notification from federal authorities, restarting an investigation that had been paused during the election. But it’s doubtful that Team Biden would have issued a public statement if…

1. They had not first coordinated with the media 

or

2. They knew the media was going to write about it.

Since the media is actually digging a bit into the story, the first category is less likely. That means the media is behaving somewhat adversarially.

How do we understand this?

It’s important to remember that while the media is part of the Democrat establishment, it tends to be part of its leftist faction. So while the media allies with Democrats against Republicans, it also allies with lefties to push the Democrats leftward. It’s an independent power bloc and it has its own agendas. Part of that power means occasionally reminding Democrats of what it can do to them. So think of some of the negative media reporting on Democrats as a component of the oligarchy flexing its muscles in this power sharing arrangement. The media has its own economic needs and political agendas that it wants to be taken care of.

The reporting on Hunter Biden comes after Team Biden disappointed lefties by failing to appoint some of their political heroes to plum positions, and picked cronies like Austin, instead of Flournoy, while leaving a lot of Bernie people in the dark. That means it’s a good time to start firing warning shots across the bow of the SS Biden.

If Biden behaves, the stories can go away. If they don’t, well there’s always Kamala.
