We don’t yet know what the actual inauguration will look like, but January 6 has no major protests scheduled, and there haven’t even been any serious efforts to contest the outcome of the 2024 presidential election.
I’m sure that some noise will be made by the usual suspects inside Congress, but largely the Dems have been badly shaken and they haven’t, at least at the moment, settled on a strategy and are not contesting the election on any other grounds than Trump’s ‘illegitimacy’ due to the manufactured charges against him.
But nonetheless, D.C. is being locked down and maximum security is being deployed around the Electoral College certification.
Why?
One answer is that the Biden administration, still expecting to win, preemptively declared it a National Special Security Event and assumed that the security would be used to stop pro-Trump protesters.
The National Special Security Event is here but there’s no one to secure it against.
Still much the same was true of January 20, 2020, with a mass deployment of troops from around the country, who had nothing to do except sleep in D.C. garages. But the purpose of that was a show of force.
To some degree, this may be true now as well.
Finally, the unnecessary security also provides the media with a pretext for resuming its endless discourse about J6 even though most Dems, including James Carville, have admitted that Americans don’t care.
DemonRATs love the word “lockdown.’ It signifies everything they stand for: loss of freedom of speech, loss of freedom of travel, loss of personal freedom of any kind.
First, Democrats want to rob Republicans of their joyful celebration today but they also need to make sure their own thugs don’t show up and cause a ruckus because that would undercut their “Jan 6 2021 was a bridge too far” narrative. If the left rioted today that would end their ability to use J6/21 as a bludgeon against Republicans.
The Dem narrative about January 6 was fake from the start, but their useful idiots believed it. Now they are trying to revive their narrative. But everything about the Dems these days is fake. They have no rational program for the country, just spin and fake narratives, like everything is a marketing problem, trying to sell a terrible product, instead of providing good products.
Why is D.C. being locked down by “woke” Democ-rats for Jan. 6? Churlishness.
They know Trump is coming to town on the 20th. They’re just throwing a temper tantrum at the last hour.
I can’t wait to see them gone. America agrees. They lost the election because they’re hated.

They could have saved themselves the effort and expense. Not only was there no identified threat, but the expected snow shut much of the city down. (Looking out my balcony, 6-8″ so far.)
