If you follow conservative commentators or pay attention to what’s trending on Twitter – sorry, X – then you can’t have failed to notice the controversy stemming from what initially began as infighting over at The Daily Wire – specifically, between founder Ben Shapiro and one of its big stars, Candace Owens. But their altercation very quickly morphed into something potentially much larger and more concerning than just a gossipy feud between two media personalities.
Joel Pollak at Breitbart News wrote a very balanced, neutral explanation of how the controversy began and what it was initially all about, for those who missed out on the back story. Most people became aware of the dispute after seeing a short, viral video clip of Shapiro responding to a question at a speaking engagement about his thoughts on Owens’ take on the Israel-Hamas conflict. Pollak recaps from there:
Shapiro called Owens’s commentary on the ongoing war between Israel and Hamas “disgraceful,” without specifying. Owens has generally been skeptical of the war and of U.S. involvement, and has been accused of equivocating between Israel and Hamas.
In one post on X / Twitter, for example, Owens described a massive pro-Palestinian protest in London, which included extreme anti-Israel chants and antisemitic rhetoric, as if it were motivated by rejection of a media narrative, not hatred of Israel and Jews.
Owens responded to Shapiro passive-aggressively (not addressing his criticism directly or him by name) on social media with quotes from the New Testament’s gospel of Matthew:
Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God. Blessed are they which are persecuted for righteousness’ sake: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Blessed are ye, when men shall revile you, and persecute you, and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my sake.
No one can serve two masters. Either you will hate the one and love the other, or you will be devoted to the one and despise the other.
You cannot serve both God and money.
Shapiro shot back online: “Candace, if you feel that taking money from The Daily Wire somehow comes between you and God, by all means quit.” To which Owens replied, bizarrely, “You are utterly out of line for suggesting that I cannot quote biblical scripture. The Bible is not about you.”
This was an utterly deceitful spin, considering that Shapiro said nothing about prohibiting her from quoting scripture. And although the Bible may not be all about Shapiro, Owens’ original quote certainly was, and as her boss he was justified in calling her out about it.
Some respondents on X took Owens to task for willfully misinterpreting Shapiro’s tweet, but as soon as she made the dispute about him suppressing her right to quote the New Testament, Jew-haters on Twitter rallied to her defense to pump up her false narrative that this was all about a Jew whose loyalty to Israel supposedly supersedes his loyalty to America versus an America-First Christian who wants the U.S. to stay out of foreign wars. If that sounds like I am blowing this out of proportion, I urge you to simply scan the comments on social media posts about the pair. Candace has many loyal followers, but a disturbing number of them seem to be Jew-haters, some of whom openly embrace the label “groypers” – the racist, America First followers of the repugnant young online demagogue Nick Fuentes. And they are helping to spin the controversy in a way that pits Christians against Jews, and America First supporters against supporters of Israel.
One X user, for example, wrote, “> Christian quotes bible > Jew takes it personally. Many such cases.” Another wrote, “Well to be fair, to them quoting scripture is like garlic to a vampire.” Yet another viciously urged Candace, “COOK HIM. COOK HIM.” Anti-Israel propagandist Jackson Hinkle, who has over 2 million X followers, tweeted repeatedly in support of Owens, such as this one: “I am not surprised that the GENOCIDAL ZIONIST Ben Shapiro is OFFENDED by The Bible!” And this one: “Ben Shapiro claims ‘facts don’t care about your feelings.’ The Bible doesn’t care about YOUR feelings either, Ben!” A groyper with the X handle “classicsgroyp” posted a short video of Nick Fuentes taking Owens’ side against Shapiro, whom the slimy hate-monger accused of not caring about white people or America, only Israel.
This is a common antisemitic trope, by the way: the smear that American Jews have double loyalties or even a greater loyalty to Israel, and therefore are potentially or literally traitorous. That is Nick Fuentes’ rabble-rousing claim: They can’t be trusted. Just under the surface, they’re anti-American as well as anti-Christian. Even conservative commentator Jason Whitlock defended Owens by attacking “Jewish elites” and accusing Shapiro of dual loyalty.
As Joel Pollak wrote,
There is nothing disloyal about Americans wanting to support and defend Israel against Hamas terror, both out of love of Israel, and out of concern that a victory for a radical Islamic terror group like Hamas would make America and the world less safe.
…
There are also “America First” conservatives who have argued — like this author — that supporting Israel is in America’s interest, both because we must defend allies (within limits), and because defending Israel also helps us defend religious liberty in America.
Full disclosure: I know Ben Shapiro and we are, I presume, on friendly terms, though we haven’t communicated with each other for several years. We used to work together at the David Horowitz Freedom Center. I sometimes agree with Ben, sometimes not. I have never met Candace Owens but for various reasons I am not now nor have I ever been a fan. On a personal level I am completely indifferent about their feud; my concern is that the truth about why Ben slammed her – her deplorable ignorance about Israel, such as her belief that Jerusalem’s Muslim quarter is the only area Muslims are allowed to live in the city – is now being overwhelmed by a narrative she created in order to present herself as the innocent victim of Ben’s purported enmity toward Christians.
This is part of a pattern, by the way, of how Owens deflects criticism of her sometimes questionable positions: not by defending her stance in skillful debate (much less by confessing her ignorance), but by steering things in a different direction, turning the spotlight on her critics, and steamrolling over them with verbal diarrhea.
Case in point: in an appearance on a recent episode of comedian Bill Maher’s podcast Club Random, Owens acknowledged (not for the first time) her skepticism of America’s 1969 moon landing. Needless to say, Maher was taken aback, especially when she added, “I just want to know why we didn’t go back.”
“We DID go back,” he countered, “like, ten times.” To be precise, after the historic 1969 landing America went back to the moon a half dozen times, with five of those including landings. But Maher correctly added that a dozen different astronauts have walked on the moon. To cover her ignorance, Owens immediately began demanding the names of all those astronauts. “Who the f**k remembers what the astronauts’ names were?” Maher began, and she pressed, “That’s a pretty big deal, to walk on the moon… Who else walked on it?” Maher got uncharacteristically flustered as Owens pounced to make him look like the ignorant one: “What were their names?” She went on to barrage him with her rapid-fire delivery about how and why he even dug up this “niche” topic, without ever admitting his valid point that her moon landing denial calls into question her judgment on other, more important topics.
Similarly, rather than address Shapiro’s criticism of her appalling ignorance about Israel and her moral equivalence in accusing the Jewish state of apartheid and genocide, she accused him of suppressing her faith – as if Shapiro would ever do such a thing. As I understand it, the great majority of the commentators, staff, and even funders of The Daily Wire are Christian. Shapiro is devoutly Jewish and hence does not believe in Christ’s divinity; but to suggest that he harbors animosity toward his Christian employees and objects to them publicly expressing their faith is patently false.
Many conservatives now feel compelled to choose sides between Shapiro and Owens and thus between Jews and Christians, as well as between Israel and America. This begs clarification of what it means to put America first. Too many America Firsters seem to believe that the term means America Alone; it should not. I, for example, wholeheartedly support America first, but I do not support absolute isolationism, which in any case is impractical if not impossible in today’s world. America First should include supporting – to a reasonable extent – our allies, especially Israel. That is a right and just thing to do.
America First should mean shoring up our own border, economy, and military preparedness before trying to export democracy around the world to countries that don’t want it, and before hemorrhaging money to corrupt regimes abroad. It should mean avoiding foreign wars (when possible) and not playing the world’s policeman but also supporting our close friends in Israel against the genocidal evil of Islamic imperialism.
To sum up, the Owens-Shapiro showdown is bigger than even the oversized personas of Candace and Ben; their clash has become the flashpoint of two broader issues.
One issue is whether America First means shooting ourselves in the foot with a rigid isolationism on the one hand, or, on the other hand, embracing a commonsense self-interest that includes supporting our closest allies in a world made exponentially more dangerous by a subversive, globalist, Democrat administration.
And two, the Owens-Shapiro feud threatens to empower a shameful strain of antisemitism among a minority of conservatives who call themselves Christian. As believers in the Judeo-Christian foundation of our civilization’s moral code and spiritual strength, American Christians and Jews should and must be natural allies.
These are rifts that the “groypers” of the right and the Hamas-lovers of the left will happily exploit to divide-and-conquer their political opponents. Conservatives must not allow those hateful agendas to prevail.

It is obviously a spat between high IQ and lower IQ. And I’m not a big fan of Ben Shapiro due to his only very reluctant support for Trump, When two such disparate intellectual levels argue in public, it’s awkward! Ouchie!
Groypers don’t love non whites. I stumbled into some of their private convos once or twice! They were Nazi-like and ugly! Owens is not the only non white mascot they’ve had in their elite Jew-hate clique though..
I hope these Jew-haters vote for Trump because he had lunch with Fuentes. Get out the Groyper vote!
And I hope Shapiro fans will vote for Trump now. Get out the Shapiro fan vote!
I also hope Israel supporters will vote for Trump as this administration isn’t truly supportive of Israel as Trump was when president.
So, divide and argue and but get out the anti-Semitic, and get out the pro Israel and get out the smug Shapiro fan votes!
Trump! Trump! Trump!
Kynarion Hellenis says
Yes. I have never been a big Shapiro fan, but it is difficult not to admire his bristling, sparkling intellect.
Poor Candace. She has developed something of a facade– an appearance of intellect, but lacking the power thereof. In the presence of Shapiro, all her foundations are destroyed and she is revealed in all her stupidity.
Rachelle says
I think that’s my own main conclusion from this spat. Candace Owens is terminally stupid.
JC says
Shapiro’s IQ is likely not that much lower than Candace’s,
Nonetheless, ‘The Feud’ has morphed into something absurdly irrelevant to their original disagreement.
Israel has always been America’s ally. We should stand with Israel as Trump promises to do.
Beez says
I’m a Christian, and I’ll stand with Israel in thought, word, and deed – just like Gov. Ron DeSantis did with his trade mission to Israel last April and in signing Florida House bill 269 to provide law enforcement agencies with new enforcement mechanisms to punish perpetrators of antisemitic incidents and those who target religious communities. Gov. DeSantis has once again made Florida a leader on protecting religious liberty and the State of Israel both in the United States and around the world.
Trump can’t win. DeSantis can.
Beez says
Trump talks a good game. DeSantis actually delivers.

Christianity came from the disciples, the Word originated with Judeaism. We should support our Jewish brothers and sisters. Basically, the world , the elites,. and oligarchs have become greedy and corrupt, they worship money, wealth, and power, and want to take it from others as well, the greed gets worse and its miserly. Luke 12: 15, Jesus said to them Watch Out! Be on you guard against all kinds of greed.
THX 1138 says
What precisely is the essential definition of “greed”?
Greed stripped of any evil connotations is an intense desire for more money, wealth, material goods. An intense desire to live well and with zest and joy, here on earth. Morally speaking that intense desire in and of itself is not immoral or evil. It’s HEALTHY.
A person without the desire to live well, with zest and joy, is either depressed or has given up on life on earth. And isn’t that the essence of Christianity? Renounce this fallen life on earth, give everything up, and follow Jesus to his supernatural utopia in the afterlife.
“Greed and “materialism” have their good points.
The root of these things are in the emotion of wanting. It’s true that some will steal or cheat to get what they want; but most will work for it. Since cheating and stealing are ineffective most of the time, working for what you want is the only way to attain it. We tend to condemn motives that actually lead to results that are not only good for those who feel them, but for everyone else as well. Imagine a world with no greed, want or drive for comfortable and nice things. It would be a world where work would be pointless, meaningless, and non-existent. Greed and materialism lead to comfort, fun and the defeat of poverty. This is what American capitalism largely achieved.” – Michael J. Hurd
Richardhard Hassett says
Greed is a buzz word for immoral behaviors in my opinion.. What we do is who we are, Do I see the human person in every individual I meet or see. Or are they just opportunities for my self gain or pleasures ??. Who we are is based on what we believe ,given to us by our parents, society and the education we receive from establishments at all levels.
The only question that matters is, “what is truth”. Then where do we find it, does it have contradictions embedded within the lines we are assured are true. ?. What are the serious differences between Judaism, Christianity and Islam. ???. All three cannot be TRUE , only ONE, the one that is void of hate. for others , not hate against evil.. The conflicts everywhere are driven by society refusing to address that question and so humanity continues to indulge in its self and fails to see its self destruction. . The middle East is an obvious example.. Mass media is a total failure and the internet just exposes the individual egos that lurk in all of us.. God help us.
Kynarion Hellenis says
Christianity came from the Garden. The Jews alone were chosen among all the peoples of the earth, to have the knowledge and very Presence of God.
Through the Jews, and now also Christians, the LORD fulfills the promises to Abraham to bless all the earth with the good news / gospel. See Isaiah 61:1 and Luke 4:18.
The covenant between the LORD and the Jews is everlasting: to be a nation, a people and priesthood to spread the knowledge of the LORD to all nations and thereby bless all the earth. This has been done by God alone, through His empowerment of His faithful witnesses. The LORD never shares His Glory with another. Jewish rejection of their King has been the reconciliation of the world, and their reconciliation will be nothing less than life from the dead. Romans 11:15. And so we pray for everyone, and especially for Israel.

Oh the Wisdom and the truth we get from God. His word is more valuable than Gold.

The Scriptures from God’s mouth show the deception that comes from man, and specifically Satan.

I agree with everything this author said. And yes, the right too has an antisemite problem.
TruthLaser says
The right does not have a problem with anti-Semites comparable with the left because they have been excluding anti-Semites to a substantially greater degree. That was a specific policy of William F. Buckley that he had enough influence to execute almost 70 years ago. Much later, he exposed the anti-Semitism of Pat Buchanan. The left features anti-Semitism as part of its everyday policies.

I’m still torn. I support Israel doing whatever they feel necessary after the islamic Hamas cowards attacked women and children.
I’m opposed to NATO expansion therefore uncomfortable with billions being sent to corrupt Ukraine after Hunter Biden was a member of an Ukraine company.
One small thing from the article:
“she accused him of suppressing her faith”
She didn’t use those words and this illustrates the danger of social media which restricts the number of characters that can be used. It simplifies complex interactions.
Una Salus says
Whether they’re a minority or not is only a consolation if they’re a vanishing minority. If they’re on the up it’s no consolation at all. The other issue is that is an area of common ground with many on the left and with all the “division” that’s something that can’t be overlooked. Conservatives love common ground. The left doesn’t need it unless common ground serves their purpose.
This has nothing to do with Shapiro who is a McConnell Republican who wonders why Republicans can’t even take advantage of the opportunities a Biden administration gives them. The GOP is headed for extinction along this road and Trump is a band aid.
This feud shows where the fault lines lie. Those fault lines will remain whether Republicans brush them aside to elect Trump or not.
Owens is pals with Tucker Carlson, Tucker Carlson said he felt sort of bad about the Israel attacks but wasn’t particularly interested in the causes which is strange because with open borders you’d think he would want to know about the ideology that’s coming into the country. He then changed subject to how more Americans die from fentanyl.
Christians are very familiar with this. You get preachers who change the subject to how many people died in the volcano eruptions in Hawaii. Tucker’s not a Christian, Most Christians aren’t this short sighted hopefully.. Tucker’s not anything but an Isolationist with a bow tie really but the pattern is identical.
internalexile says
Actually, Tucker said he was horrified by the Hamas slaughter in the 7th, and felt so sorry for the Israeli families who lost loved ones, not that he felt “sort of bad.” And Candace’s throwing in scripture just seemed a distraction (to me, at least). Both sides will try to muddy the waters.
Una Salus says
Actually, I’m sure Trucker is horrified by many things. I’m sure he’s much more interested in the causes of fentanyl availability in the US than the causes of the situation in Israel because he said so.
He also moved on in about 5 seconds to fentanyl. I don’t care about both sides. I’ve only heard what Tucker and Owens have to say.
JC says
Fentanyl was not a primary concern. It was an example.
Tucker moved on from Israel’s suffering because he wanted to discuss the perils Americans now face from open borders, the media’s failure to report, and the Biden’s administration’s utterly destructive policies.
Another key concern in that Tucker/Candace exchange was the First Amendment.
Steven Brizel says
Shapiro understands that anti Semitism of as any kind is wrong and I suspect that her days at DW which many Jewish readers find indispensable as a source of news and support for Israel snf traditional Jewish values are numbered
Una Salus says
Probably but that doesn’t solve the problem.

Do you really think the Daily Wire is just for Jews? How solipsitic! That’s just a tiny minority population in the United States! The Daily Wire is for anyone. How bizarre you think the group has such control.

I don’t listen to either one. Ben endorsed the vaccinations, which was not kosher. I personally never thought Candace was someone who knew that much. All I know is that our country is in big trouble and should let Israel do what it must do.
internalexile says
But, as Vivek says, without our ever having boots on the ground.

Just to be clear, Israel does not want our boots on the ground. They will stoically fight their own battles, which in this case and quite a few others, are also our battles.

A concern a lot of people have is that the Palestinians will end up being shipped here. I know an Israeli official wrote an op-ed in, I believe, the WaPo suggesting that exporting 2 million to the US would be beneficial. I didn’t read it, but rather heard a short report about it. We are being invaded and many people feel very defensive about any situation that might make conditions here worse. It seems likely they are already bringing them here clandestinely. This is something the Obiden regime would enjoy. We must support Israel, but bringing the terrorists here (the frequent result of US military engagements overseas) should be out of the question.
TRex says
I’ve heard it said if you want to bring down the US what would you do different than the Biden admin? I’m willing to bet big money we will soon be hearing about the “humanitarian” effort to import large numbers of “Palestinian” innocents.
Rachelle says
The US doesnt have boots on the ground in the israel Hamas war Nor does Israel want them. Both your comment and Ramaswamy’s are therefore irrelevant.
Carolyn says
You should watch her shows on these issues. She doesn’t claim to be an expert at all– which has what has made her so inquisitive with her guests. She and most Christians and the good Jews who are protesting for peace base their lives on goodness, Truth and humanity, and, of course, God.
A great article idea would be on Israel’s law prohibiting the questioning of 10/7. If you question the government you get your property seized. Crazy!! I really feel for the people of Israel under such tyranny.
JeffwithaJ says
A law prohibiting “questioning” of 10/7? Are you crazy? (That’s known as a rhetorical question. Do you know what that means? And do your parents know you’re playing with the computer?)
NYgal says
Ben endorsed vaccinations because his wife, just like my doctor and most of the other doctors, have believed that vaccine was safe. Most doctors, even those who now are against to vaccinations, supported it during the first year, and that includes doctor’s my family who vaccinated their own children and who believed the data the NIH and CDC was providing.
Few expected that CDC and NIH were all out lying to us and to the entire medical profession and to the entire nation.
Those responsible in the NIH and CDC should be criminally charged for willfully misleading the entire nation.
mac says
NYGal,
I fully agree with you. What raised the hackles on the back of my neck were the Emergency Use Authorizations. I’ve traveled a lot and had MANY vaccinations. However, all of those went through the normal chain of CDC testing. When they wanted the WuFlu vaxxes to be accepted without that full testing scope, I made up my mind I wasn’t taking those under any circumstances.
Now I am very glad I didn’t take them.
TRex says
It’s fair to give health professionals a pass for their actions early on in the pandemic. But what about now? My doctor still wants me to get the shot after telling him, multiple times, he couldn’t pay me to take it. I get the feeling so many good doctors are being incentivized in some way to keep pushing this crap even after all the VAERS reports and studies showing the negative effects it has and is causing. Medicine is not politics and it’s disappointing to see how many doctors have been captured by the corrupt federal “health” agencies that are ruled by politics.
JC says
Having worked for the feds for 20 years, and a few other such bureaucracies, I did not get the vaccine, nor would I trust imperatives from questionable “experts”–including doctors who are mere humans who make mistakes.–of which I have been a trusting victim. .

Quick question for Owens – what were the names of Christopher Columbus’s crew? They most certainly existed and had names, so name them.
If anybody could not see the hypocrisy of her bible verse then they are as blind as she is.

Jason P says
It is sad to see Owens drift into the paleo-con camp … or should I say jump in head first. Her denial of the moon landing, was bizarre & embarrassing but taking Hamas’ side is both bizarre & atrocious.
Carolyn says
Owens has never taken Hamas’s side. To say she has is deceitful and shows ones true colors.
Open yourself to the Truth and the Light. Let the Truth and morals be your guide posts not simple minded allegiance to random governments.
JeffwithaJ says
“To say she has is deceitful and shows ones true colors.” This from someone who says Israel passed a law prohibiting anyone from questioning what happened on 10/7.
Perhaps Front Page Mag should stop allowing antisemitic conspiracy theorists to comment on its site. These commenters, such as Carolyn, are a waste of time and would be far better off at Storm Front where she could exchange bodily fluids with those of her ilk.

I don’t have a nickel’s worth of use for either one of them since Shapiro has turned on Trump and Owens has ALWAYS been about Owens. As far as I’m concerned, they can both dogfight it out in a back alley somewhere and whomever loses, we all win.
And speaking of useless, Breitbart couldn’t be more so…unless of course you’re a neocon as well.
Robert Hagedorn says
Can you provide some examples of militaristic posts at Breitbart other than the site’s support for the annihilation of Hamas? Being against isolationism is not necessarily a neocon position, rather it’s just a common sense position.
THX 1138 says
“As believers in the Judeo-Christian foundation of our civilization’s moral code and spiritual strength, American Christians and Jews should and must be natural allies.”
What precisely is the foundational moral code of Western civilization?
The ideas and writings of the secular pagans Aristotle and Cicero, and the pagan Stoics, are the true foundation of the Western values of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.
Judaism and Christianity are eastern mysticism, not western rationality. In their pure form, uninfluenced by the rational philosophy of Aristotle, they lead directly to the brutality of intolerant theocracy. Judaism prepared the ground for Christianity, and both, prepared the ground for Islam and Marxism.
Christianity was the fundamental cause of the Dark and Middle Ages. Back then the Christians persecuted the Jews incessantly.
Judeo-Christianity’s central moral code of altruism and self-sacrifice for God and neighbor is what has led to the destruction of America. To the destruction of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.
“This country—the product of reason—could not survive on the morality of sacrifice. It was not built by men who sought self-immolation or by men who sought handouts. It could not stand on the mystic split that divorced man’s soul from his body. It could not live by the mystic doctrine that damned this earth as evil and those who succeeded on earth as depraved. From its start, this country was a threat to the ancient rule of mystics. In the brilliant rocket-explosion of its youth, this country displayed to an incredulous world what greatness was possible to man, what happiness was possible on earth. It was one or the other: America or mystics. The mystics knew it; you didn’t. You let them infect you with the worship of need—and this country became a giant in body with a mooching midget in place of its soul, while its living soul was driven underground to labor and feed you in silence, unnamed, unhonored, negated, its soul and hero: the industrialist.” – Ayn Rand
Intrepid says
I was wondering, what does your definition of the “foundational moral code of Western civilization” have to do with the feud between Ben Shapiro and Candace Owens?
Well, obviously nothing. Because all you really care about is spreading your simplistic warped theories, once again, on these pages. It really doesn’t matter what the subject matter of any article is. You have an agenda. Tapson had one sentence about the obvious moral code of Western Civilization in his article.
So what do you do? Turn it into a diatribe against Judaism and Christianity. Every article is an opportunity for you to shoehorn in Objectivism, warranted or not. I wonder has it occurred to you that no one is paying attention to this oft-repeated drivel of yours.
Do you really have that empty a life that this is what you focus on? How beyond pathetic you are.
Tomorrow we will be spending Thanksgiving with friends doing the stuff that normal people do. You know, watching football, making a huge meal, talking politics, etc.
I know what you will be doing. Desperately scouring FPM for any chance to criticize and ridicule the holiday, America, Judaism and Christianity. And then sitting back reveling in your “rational selfishness” and telling yourself, “What a good boy am I” You are as predictable as a sunrise, but not at all impressive.

To put it simply, without the Catholic Church, christianity, no European flowering possible.
He forgets to talk about all the sectarianisms that the Church had to fight to avoid total chaos, toute l’importace a ce sujet des inquisitions, all the importance on this subject of the inquisitions, and of the fact that it was necessary to maintain unity as much as possible to avoid a total collapse,, that the Church has never been homogeneous intellectually, philosophically, scientifically, politically, and that there has always existed within it a immense movement of ideas and thoughts, with oppositions, discussions, debates.
Opposing the Church and Christianity to reason, and only reduce all this to irrational, superstition, is proof of monstrous ignorance. At the theological level, it is degree zero of thought, of reflection.
He has absolutely no idea of the quality of biblical texts at the anthropological, sociological and psychological level. Nor what is said in Jesus’ parables.
Reducing 2000 years of Christianity to this verbal mush is deplorable from an ethical point of view. Truth and ethics are intrinsically linked, and this THX is thousands of miles away.

He apes his goddess, Ayn Rand, who concluded at the age of 13 or so that there was no God, and then never thought to actually study the issues of anything else related to theology. An intuitive decision made by a youthful girl is at the root of THX’s metaphysical “insights.” However, anybody who has read both Atlas Shrugged and the Bible will see how her own massive novel borrows rather clearly from the language and sense of religion and its biblical sources, recasting them according to her own purposes. John W. Robbins explores these connections in his book “Without a Prayer: Ayn Rand and The Close of Her System” (a penetrating exploration of the philosophic flaws, contradictions, and psychological manipulations residing in “Objectivism.”

Literature, music, art, and politics of western civilization wouldn’t exist without the
Hebrew Bible.
You are greatly misinformed.
THX 1138 says
Literature, music, art, science, and politics of Western civilization all come from Ancient Greece. Ancient Greece is the cradle of Western civilization.
The Jews were primitives and would have remained primitives without the Hellenization of pagan Ancient Greece.
“The sound of the first human step in recorded history, the prelude to the entrance of the producer on the historical scene, was the birth of philosophy in ancient Greece. All earlier cultures had been ruled, not by reason, but by mysticism: the task of philosophy—the formulation of an integrated view of man, of existence, of the universe—was the monopoly of various religions that enforced their views by the authority of a claim to supernatural knowledge and dictated the rules that controlled men’s lives. Philosophy was born in a period when . . . a comparative degree of political freedom undercut the power of mysticism and, for the first time, man was free to face an unobstructed universe, free to declare that his mind was competent to deal with all the problems of his existence and that reason was his only means of knowledge.” – Ayn Rand
“Ancient Greece tore away the heavy shroud of mysticism woven for centuries in murky temples, and achieved, in three centuries, what Egypt had not dreamed of in thirty: a civilization that was essentially pro-man and pro-life. The achievements of the Greeks rested on their confidence in the power of man’s mind—the power of reason. For the first time, men sought to understand the causes of natural phenomena, and gradually replaced superstition with the beginnings of science. For the first time, men sought to guide their lives by the judgment of reason, instead of resorting exclusively to divine will and revelation.
The Greeks built temples for their gods, but they conceived of their gods as perfect human beings, rejecting the cats, crocodiles and cow-headed monstrosities enshrined and worshiped by the Egyptians. Greek gods personified abstractions such as Beauty, Wisdom, Justice, Victory, which are proper human values. In the Greek religion, there was no omnipotent mystical authority and no organized priesthood. The Greek had only a vague idea of, and little interest in, an afterlife.” – Mary Ann Sures

It wasn’t altruism that those on board the Mayflower were seeking. Freedom from oppression is a powerful motivation. And not knowing the ultimate outcome once you cover the desert with Moses or cross the Atlantic with Brewster and Bradford can create conflict and disillusionment.
This article offered some clarity, but it would be for the benefit of all if both parties could privately resolve their differences. The public shame and blame is divisive.
Government agendas in league with media covering up dreadful details or promoting false ones fosters doubt that compels public figures to overreact. The anti-Israel side drives mobs into a frenzy over classic victimhood vitriol and disruptive destructive behavior.
Nicolas Carras says
Israel is an ally of America, of the free world, of the West, of Christians. Zionism was supported by a majority of Americans even before Israel became an ally, was supported by the state. It’s part of a tradition. Also, America needs allies in the Middle East. So you will have to support your allies. I don’t see what’s complicated to understand about that.
She is very superficial regarding the Israeli-Arab question, it is clear that she has not thought deeply about this question, and in addition I suspect that she has prejudices, she does not apply the intellectual rigor that she applied for BLM, we are clearly entering into an ideological orientation. and with people who comment clearly being in an anti-Zionist ideological sectarianism, even anti-Semitic.
She invited Finkelstein, according to her to make both sides talk, both camps, as if Finkeilstein was a valid interlocutor in this affair… He is a guy who hates Israel, who compares gaza to a concentration camp, and who above all does not want to highlight that the worst problems faced by the Arabs in this region were caused by Arab authorities. He has only demonized Israel all his life, he has no reasoned criticism. He is not a valid interlocutor.
She didn’t question him, she let him talk, tell his usual bullshit.
In short, given the current context, I find it very disturbing. Imagine 50,000 American civilians killed by fanatics from Mexico, or Canada. in absolute barbarity.
She skimmed over this issue, where anyone with good ethics should have explored the matter in depth. She makes judgments when she does not have the knowledge necessary to make these judgments, and once again, this is not a question that she has sufficiently meditated.
I am very disappointed in her.
Darryl says
It is really a low thing to do to quote Scripture as some sort of political weapon to disrespect the other person you are disagreeing with.
It is rare that a great taker is also a great listener.. From the moon landing to the Quarters of Jerusalem, Candace does not have basic knowledge about the world she lives in.
She has just enough knowledge to e a conspiracy nut,
But what really surprised me is how cold blooded she is. Babies in ovens, and she picks that issue to throw barbs at her Jewish colleague?
She is personality without principles. Her heart is missing.
It is a difficult maneuver for conservatives to not the connectedness of the Marxist Leviathan encroaching upon all aspects of life without descending into conspiracy theories. Owens does not have the knowledge, the intelligence, the principles, or the character to be able to navigate through those waters.
Girls raped to death, and her response is that she did not especially like Jerusalem as a tourist.
And that is all I have to say about that.
Nicolas Carras says
“He has only demonized Israel all his life, he has no reasoned criticism.”
And I remind that in the demonization of the other, there is already the beginning of annihilation. Whoever has to be annihilated will be demonized, and that is exactly what Hamas and all anti-Zionist fanatics have been doing for a century. It started with Mohammed Amin al-Husseini, and it continued afterwards with the Arab League, the PLO, the Palestinian authority, Islamo-leftism, an anti-Semitic right, certain traditionalist Catholics, who even opposed the Second Vatican Council. In short, Finkelstein is not a valid interlocutor in this question.
Carolyn says
So you agree with cutting off the water, food and energy for 2.2 million people. Good to know! Good to see everyone’s true colors being revealed.
Nicolas Carras says
“So you agree with cutting off the water, food and energy for 2.2 million people”
Yes, I totally agree, namely that among all these people there are pro-Hamas in very large numbers.
The Arab population is predominantly violently anti-Zionist, anti-Jewish, and mostly supports what Hamas did on October 7. My side is Israel, not the civilian population of Gaza,
It’s up to Hamas to take care of its civilians, it’s Hamas who attacks. He had to think about it first.
Now people like you are going to blame Israel for the situation of civilians.
It is Hamas, the Arab authorities supporting Hamas, the civilians supporting Hamas who are responsible for the current situation.
Nicolas Carras says
Also, I remind you that there is a war, and in times of war we do things to weaken the enemy. It turns out that what is being targeted is Hamas in the first place, and Hams has its logistics in urban areas with civilians. So when you cut off the water, it also affects civilians. But it was up to Hamas, and pro-Hamas, to think about that before committing a pogrom. It is Haas and all those who support it who are responsible for the situation of civilians and collateral victims.
I would of course condemn an isolated act, Israeli soldiers massacring civilians in a village for example.
Also, have you seen Palestinian Arabs demonstrating to condemn what Hamas did? Have you seen a resistance movement?
When Hitler came to power there was resistance, it was crushed, all opposition was annihilated, and this resistance had to relocate, leave Germany. But it existed. In France, for example, there were Germans who were fiercely anti-Hitler and who said so openly.
I saw no resistance, no demonstration with Palestinian Arabs condemning the pogrom of October 7. Neither in Gaza, nor in the territories under the control of the Palestinian Authority, nor anywhere else where there are Palestinian Arabs.
Nicolas Carras says
If Jews massacred hundreds of civilians as Hamas did with Israeli civilians, there would be a large movement in Israel to condemn this, and many Jews around the world would condemn it as well. and Ben would also be there to condemn.
I ask you the question once again: where did Arabs, Muslims, demonstrate massively to condemn all the horrors committed by Hamas? Since Hamas has been committing absolute abominations?
Wher and when ?
RS says
We should all ask, Why does the left continually stick up for terrorists who are the main problem in every civilization that cause the murder, mayhem, and instability of nations?

Water and electricity in exchange for releasing hostages and as a slight punishment for supporting the rape and murder of innocents not to mention Hamas’ genocidal designs. It sounds to me like they would be getting off easy.
Of course the colors being revealed here, and they are dark colors for sure, are those of the not so subtle antisemite, Carolyn.
Anne says
Agree completely. I do not think you should have a person like Mr. Finkelstein on your program without having listen to or read, years of his commentary and opinions. As an interviewer I would NOT enter into any interview without having done that, for ANYONE. Know matter if I was a supported it or not. She did not do her due diligence on that interview clearly, from her lack of intelligent questions that she did not ask.
Ms Owen’s has also made the same mistake Tucker Carlson has made in regard to supporting Israel vs American intervention. It is a separate question about financial and/or intervention into the Israel = Gaza conflict. Both of them have made extremely ignorant and insensitive commentary/answers to Jan 7th.
Sebastian says
Interesting that you highlight Owens’ ignorance on the moon landing, but ignore several major events that Ben got wrong, which had far worse consequences.
As stupid as you think Owens is she got it right on the vaccine. Ben went on a tirade calling people “idiots” for not getting the vaccine. Well, we all know how that went….
Ben had Trump derangement syndrome and since the election railed against Trump. Only recently, because of the attack on Israel, has Ben acknowledged maybe Trump was the kind of person needed in the WH! Too little too late Ben!
Lastly, Ben is stupid enough to believe there was no widespread election fraud! Ben again resorted to calling people names “conspiracy theorists”, “delusional” for those that questioned the integrity of the election. For months, on Ben’s podcast, he would say “there is no evidence of widespread elections fraud or any indication that any fraud changed the outcome.”
Which is worse Owens in the moon landing or Ben’s stupidity on the above?
Darryl says
Candace is worse.. Ben shows his work. He gives his reasoning for any issue.
Sebastian says
Your reply just shows what a useful idiot you are. Ben was wildly wrong on 3 of the biggest issues facing our country and you get bring yourself to admit that. Your defense is that Ben explains himself? Sit down, fool.
BZBBAZ says
You might want to follow your own advice: “Sit down, fool.”
Carolyn says
I stopped listening to Ben years ago. He makes his wife work .while others raise his children and he was constantly bragging about how much money they have. He knows the price of everything and the value of nothing.
Charlie Hall says
“Ben is stupid enough to believe there was no widespread election fraud! ”
He is right on that, too. I know you are upset by that, but as he has been known to say, facts don’t care about your feelings. Biden won by seven million votes.
JeffwithaJ says
Did Candace “get it right” on vaccines because she is smart? I don’t think so.
And of course, at the beginning most doctors thought the vaccine was good. Does that really mean that Candace Owens is smarter than most doctors? Would you let her diagnose and treat you? How about letting her diagnose and treat members of your family?
As far as Trump goes, and I voted for him twice, believe it or not people are allowed not to like him, and those who don’t support him for out of reasoned positions like Ben are just fine with me. But, you know, Democracy is messy, and even though I voted for Trump twice, I am not a subject of Donald J. Trump. Ben has always been honest in his assessment of Trump’s positives and negatives. Candace Owens is a cheerleader who just wants to be rich and popular.
She got and gets plenty wrong and there’s never a mea culpa it seems.
“Lastly, Ben is stupid enough to believe there was no widespread election fraud!” Whereas you have the smoking gun?
You keep calling him stupid, but based on a sampling of your writing I would suggest you not challenge Ben to a debate.
P.S. The problem with Candace Owens is not just her ignorance of moon landings and retarded opinion on the Muslim quarter. Did you read, comprehend, and retain the information in the article? BTW, she’s already married.
Gordon says
Jew haters will pounce on whatever situation or person gives them a forum to spout their views. The problem is that there is growing frustration from some quarters that any criticism of Jews or Israel is met with a solid wall of finger pointing and cries of anti-semitism. I am 100% on board with bashing the ADL and deep state machinations in the middle east. One can do this and also be cognizant of the civilizational threats of Islam. This war is being waged on many fronts and shooting each other in the back doesn’t help (message to both sides in Candace-Ben feud). Intellectual arguments, unfortunately, appeal to only a small number of people, and then it just becomes a popularity contest with both sides using bombastic and exaggerated rhetoric to provoke a response…and get clicks.
Kim says
I wonder if Candace has ever met an astronaut who walked on the moon. I did. I toured with Jim Irwin of Apollo 15 for 3 days in France in 1982. He was there with his wife as Christian evangelist. He must have been the biggest liar I ever met if he never walked on the moon. He spoke about it with real passion as he described quoting scripture on the moon and feeling the presence of God.
I strand with Israel against the Islamic Jihadists who are acting out the wishes of their sick evil leaders, the filthy child rapist and murderer Mohamed, and their collective father, the Devil.
Charlie Hall says
It should be no surprise that Owens is also an anti-vaxxer. Junk science in one area, junk science in another area. That she thinks the moon landings are a hoax doesn’t have much effect, but anti-vax nonsense kills large numbers of people when they believe it. Even Donald Trump felt he had to push back against Owens. I would have fired Owens long ago.
JeffwithaJ says
Charlie, It should be noted that Owens as a black person most likely doubts the moon landings because it was widely believed to be a hoax in the black community, aka ghetto culture. It probably has to do with the way she was raised. Back in the 1980s I met several black people that believed the American moon landing(s) was all a hoax and had been done in a television studio in Hollywood. I can’t be certain of an absolute correlation, but I also noticed that amongst those blacks I met who thought the moon landings were a hoax a higher degree of antisemitism as well as other conspiracy theories. But a lot of antisemitism for sure. We may be looking at someone who is grappling with a lot of nonsense from her upbringing.
I won’t go into all the doozies I have personally heard from interactions with black people (and certainly not all black people btw), but just the other day there was a video of some black woman on social media explaining how the expression, “Good morning!”, comes out of slavery. Of course, it’s complete nonsense, but I’m just saying you hear this stuff all the time from certain precincts of the black community. It spreads and people believe it, because of widespread ignorance.
We see the same going on with children today who get garbage info from TikTok.
And of course there is a good reason propagandists have been infiltrating colleges forever, and it’s not because the students are brilliant, worldly, and wise, but rather because it’s easy pickings with a captive audience.
Colorado Conservative says
Your claim that “anti-vax nonsense kills large numbers of people when they believe it” is complete hogwash. Being opposed to untested, no long term trials, experiemental, mRNA Covid shots is not being anti-vax. It is being wise. And so far from the all cause mortality increases in deaths following the administration of these mRNA shots, especially those in younger ages, our wiseness was a good thing.

Candace Owens is doing her darndest to beat out Michelle Malkin and Ann Coulter for the title of “Conservative Karen,” queen of the Republican harpies. How does one do that? Speak with such kiss-my-asterisk petulance that your tone drowns out your message. As Ralph Waldo Emerson once put it: “What you are speaks so loud I cannot hear what you say.” For success in the opinion business, being a loudmouth is a necessary but not a sufficient qualification.
Don Kosky says

We all know that Israel.killing 4,000 Palestinian children has nothing to do with Hamas terror. Stop deceiving. Those children aren’t in Hamas– they are children.
We all know that Israel’s leaked plans to move the 2.2 million residents of Gaza into The West is deceitful, conniving and preys upon the generous, Christian nature of western nations.
These last 2 months have been such an eye opener!!! To see the constant firing and life destruction of anyone who dares touch a kidnap sign or deviate from the mantra of Isreal as perpetual victim is truly shocking- for a normal American who believes everyone to be equal.
The fact that 1 group shamelessly puts itself first and castigates anyone who cares about ALL of humanity has been put on full display. Frontpage has zero self awareness.
Tucker and Candace were 100% right in noticing that the incredibly wealthy Jewish donors to colleges don’t care about all Americans– just Israel and Jewish students. The rest of us don’t live our lives like that. That is simply anti-american and antithetical to a Christian mindset.
Similarly, who on earth thought it was a good idea to keep promoting anti-white male propaganda at this time?? That commercial by the Jewish group vilifying white, working class males in pick up trucks was grotesque. Get a clue!
A great article would be: Why, if Israel is the most militarized nation on earth with the most protective border, did it take them 6 hours to show up to a war on their own soil?
Why does the US continue to fund such gross incompetence when america itself is so far in debt? Do real Americans support this funding?
When will Israel will start paying the US taxpayers back for all of the free money and weapons it has been given?
Why is Israel so inhospitable to non Jewish immigrants from Africa? Why does it draw up plans that other nations should deal with Isreal’s problem?
From a PR perspective, how do you think it looks to destroy the lives of anyone who criticizes the slaughter of children in Palestine? Why are the lives of Jews more important than the lives of others? Please refrain from using the deception of calling a baby Hamas. We aren’t stupid.
When will Isreal go after Hamas leadership in Quatar? How do you think it looks to the Christian world to see Gaza totally destroyed? Do you think Christians don’t care?
Interested in hearing Frontpage’s thoughts.
Nicolas Carras says
“We all know that Israel.killing 4,000 Palestinian children has nothing to do with Hamas terror.”
WE? Not me.
It is Hamas which attacks, it is up to them to worry about their civilians.
The population of Gaza overwhelmingly supported what Hamas did on October 7. Civilians even entered Jewish properties after the attacks to loot Jews.
You are free to support pro-Hamas, but you have no right to hold Israel responsible for the situation of civilians.
Hamas stores all its war logistics in urban areas with civilians, while there is enough land in Gaza to put these logistics in civilian-free lands.
And then Hamas can say: look, the Israeli army is massacring civilians, and you repeat Hamas propaganda like a parrot. Maybe you want to believe it.
There is not Hamas on one side, and civilian victims of Hamas on the other.
Hamas was elected, it is supported by a majority of Arabs in this region. He has popularity.
Gazans have responsibilities.
You victimize all civilians, and you disempower them and then accuse Israel of being responsible for the situation of civilians?
It’s ethically disgusting to do that.
And given the brabarism with which Hamas killed Jews, it is disgusting.
And I haven’t seen any Palestinian Arabs demonstrate to condemn what Hamas did.
As for the responsibility of the Israeli authorities in what happened, it deserves an investigation. I do not believe that it is within your competence to carry out this investigation. But if you have something to say, it is your most legitimate and democratic right, it must be based on factual truths, not on an appeal to motivate, coming from your imagination.
“Why does the US continue to fund such gross incompetence when America itself is so far in debt?”
Because Israel is America’s Middle East ally. America needs allies… Just like you need them in your everyday life.
And you don’t have the right to let your allies down when they’re in trouble, it’s wrong from an ethical point of view.
Do you do it?
evildoctor says
You are wasting your time with “Carolyn” – this person has revealed her profound ignorance of Israel and enmity for Jews. The comment about “incredibly wealthy Jewish donors to colleges don’t care about all Americans– just Israel and Jewish students” is more than enough to show the cesspool from which this creature spawned. Her moral stance is validated in her (its’) warped mind by a cloak of Christian righteousness. The creature is an insult to Christians and Jews.
RS says
Israel should not appease terrorists, it doesn’t work and it never will. They have tried so many times to keep agreements that are violated by Hamas and the Palestinian leadership. At some point its time to stand up for their own people, sovereignty, and the Land that belongs to them. Every war has been provoked by the other side who are chomping at the bit to gain the land that God gave to them through the Abrahamic Covenant., People need to remember, its not just the land given to the Jewish people, its also God’s land where he put his Holy name in Jerusalem.
II Kings 21:7 The Lord had said to David and to Solomon his son, “In this house and in Jerusalem, which I have chosen out of all the tribes of Israel, I will put My name forever.”
The spiritual attachment of the jews to Jerusalem has remained unbroken; it is a unique attachment. and has remained so for 3000 years.
When God made His eternal promises to Israel, there was no United Nations, United States, Russia, European Union, and no Arab League. Today those same nations are challenging the right of the Jews to occupy a unified Jerusalem.
Make no mistake about it, God deals with nations in accord with how those nations deal with Israel. Those days are on the horizon, especially as we near the End of the Age.
DARRYL says
However many is the number of children killed in Gaza by the IDF has EVERYTHING to do with Hamas terror. Unlike the Uvalde impulse of teachers placing themselves between the children and the bullets, the Gazan response is to hold the children up as shields, and place the children in the most likely places for strikes in order that Western media can keep their profits up selling the Narrative.
Such child sacrifice is very much a part of the terrorist strategy. It is how the war of public opinion is waged in democracies. Terrorists depend on democracies being,… womanish, like that.
In the meantime Jewish babies are placed in ovens to ensure that gazillions of Gazan children will be in the line of fire.

What we do know from past Hamas war crimes is that Hamas’ “child victims” of the “Israeli war machine” turn out to be overwhelmingly males with stubble on their faces who shoot guns and rockets at the IDF. That’s what we know for sure. It’s a fact of every aggression of Hamas against the People of Israel.
As for any “leaked plans” by “Israel” go, “we” “know” about them the same way you “know” about the law against questioning 10/7.

I am not a huge follower of either Owens or Shapiro. I think Shapiro has every right to get rid of Owens. But it is wrong to equate disagreement with the opinions of Jews with anti-Semitism.
I AM following the war in Israel closely and supporting the Israelis. I support them because (1) Israel is a Western country and a staunch U.S. ally and (2) Israel is defending land they took in a war for their independence.
That said, I have nothing but enmity for any Jew in America who supports open borders out of either a hypocritical altruism or a belief that a poem written by a 15 year old girl should set immigration policy.
Taylor says
(2) Israel is defending land they took in a war for their independence.
Don’t forget the part about defending land against Islamic marauders who’ve incessantly attacked Israel ever since Israel vacated Gaza. Not to be pedantic; just a reminder.
Charlie Hall says
The US effectively had open borders from the entire Western Hemisphere from 1776 until 1965. If you wanted to come to the US, you went to a US embassy or consulate in your country of birth and applied for a visa. If you didn’t look like you would become a public charge, weren’t a revolutionary, and didn’t have an infectious disease, you got your visa. No showing up at the border unannounced. Most of the current migrant crisis can be traced directly from the 1965 policy change that made the procedure I outlined impossible. Unfortunately the nativists in the US don’t want either legal or illegal immigration. The US actually needs substantially higher levels of immigration to address its current labor shortage and its long term failure to replentish its population via natural means. Without more immigration the US will soon have a declining economy and less influence in the world. This isn’t about altruism it is about self interest.
Ty says
You’re wrong Charlie, American government shut down immigration in the 1920’s in order for us to have a break in order to assimilate all the foreigners that had immigrated here (like my grand parents and their families who came over in 1907). It was Teddy Kennedy who reversed the no-immigration policy in 1965 which ultimate turned into the disastrous mess his fellow travelers created for us today.
William says
Any thoughts on the tens of millions of Joses, Franciscos and Marias who are crossing Americas’ borders?

“But it is wrong to equate disagreement with the opinions of Jews with anti-Semitism.”
It’s more than just wrong. It’s a fake issue usually promulgated by antisemites.
And the proof is that you would have a hard time finding a Jew who would disagree with the proposition as written.
That said, I have nothing but enmity for any Gentile in America who supports open borders out of either a hypocritical altruism or a belief that a poem written by a 15 year old girl should set immigration policy. And I notice too, that the people implementing this current policy are Gentiles.
But you know, just because I sometimes disagree with the opinions of Gentiles, it doesn’t make me anti-Gentilic.

Just a slight correction. Ben Shapiro is one of the early founders of The Daily Wire, but he is NOT Candace Owen’s boss. The Daily Wire has others who are in CEO leadership positions, and Shapiro is not one of them.

Charlie Hall says
“Many conservatives now feel compelled to choose sides between Shapiro and Owens”
If you have to hesitate at all about this, you aren’t really a conservative, at least in terms of what the term has meant for decades. The new America First movement is quite reminiscent of the earlier one, doing everything possible to sabotage efforts to counter todays Nazi-equivalents in Russia, Iran, and Gaza. It is true that a few America Firsters profess support for Israel but many of them are big Putin supporters which makes them enablers of Putin’s financial and military support for Iran. Mitch McConnell understands that the struggle against Russia, Iran, and Gaza by Ukraine and Israel is one struggle, not multiple struggles. President Biden seems too although at times he seems to waver to protect himself from political damage. (The Right never gives him credit even when he does the right thing and much of the Left is clearly trying to destroy him.) On this issue of Israel vs. Hamas, Shapiro is 100% right and Owens 100% wrong.
RAM says
Charlie, what radicals in the Democratic Party have you ever called out?
JeffwithaJ says
Charlie,
I’m a little surprised I am saying this, but… You might be right, at least about Putin/Ukraine and Iran/Israel being part of a single struggle.
Tucker Carlson would disagree, because he loves to play obtuse, as he did with Nikki Haley’s comments about the Hamas attacks. Then he gets in his sandbox with McGregor and plays good soldier. But as the saying goes, “he don’t no sh_t.”
However, I don’t think most MAGA people are anti-Israel.
Trump’s America First policies up til now at least, have not been a disengagement from the world, but more about seeing the world more in terms of what is beneficial to America, first, or out of self-interest, which can be defined as broadly or as narrowly as one wishes.
But this more dangerous neo-isolationism is lurking and is as bereft of reality as anything else out there, e.g., Communism, Islamism. There is a word for it and those who espouse it: stupid.
The world will never go away just because someone wants it to. And you will always need friends.
John Keating says
The only way to acknowledge and defeat the evil that is represented by the ideology of Islam masquerading as a religion, is to immediately declare it a terrorist entity. Candace Owens is a grifter who fianlly could make money coming out as a Conservative negro than a black Liberal. If the “Daily Wire” does not fire her, Candace may quit anyway and join Tucker Carlson’s new media conglomerate (I hear Tucker is forming one). Candace owens also made remarks as some proto pearl Davies, saying Hitler merely took a moral wrong turn at Albuquerque.
The very nasty DEbbie Schlussel called this one correctly when she warned about Candace Owens. Debbie Schlussel hs implied bad things about me, also; however, I still agree with her remarks about Kayla Mueller. I guess I wouldn’t say what she said about Kayla, but as I have family in Israel I cannot feel to sorry for Miss, Mueller.

Sorry to you folks who desperately want to reach out and hold hands with someone not usually associated with conservatives, but Candace Owens is a. thick as a brick; b. almost proud of her ignorance in that she wraps herself in this arrogant aura; and, b. is one shrew in desperate need of taming.
Barbara says
Candace is an intellectual lightweight. She needs to be humble, educate herself and hire a brilliant knowledgeable assistant who can update her on the news IN DEPTH. With two children and a show, she doesn’t have enough time to make up for her mediocre knowledge base, but she has a billionaire husband and can afford an assistant who can prevent her ignorant comments, whether about Israel or about medical matters.
RAM says
There’s a special style of argumentation common to political radicals, which is to shout repetitive nonsense when the other party dares to speak. Wealth without a soul and greed that is self centered is empty. MATTHEW 19:23. Carlos Rodriguez says
Well. I understand Owens’ desire to avoid entanglements. We can arm and supply Israel without yet another boots-on-the-ground commitment. And there is a lot we can do without sending a division there. First and foremost, unless the conflict were to widen, I don’t see the IDF wanting help on the ground. Where we can, and theywant us to, by al, means help them. Hamas committed a true act of unblemished evil. If they were a country, which they are not, This is essentially a non argument between the two of them. Shapiro has to know that while the IDF wants and needs ammo, they probably don’t need a parallel American command structure. Biden might want that, but not Bibi. I say, let them vacate Gaza. Send the Gazaghistanians to Iran. There, they will do what they always do.
Taylor says
They have zero need of foreign manpower, they have plenty and this job–plus being currently deployed and ready to trounce Hizbollah–is well in hand with just 1/3 of the IDF’s manpower and equipment. Ammo is always helpful, but now that IMI, etc. is ramped up with Israeli contract workers (thats the model they use), even ammo issues are abating. The IDF is built to fight a wide coalition of Arab armies and air forces at one time, as well as irregular forces. Hamas is on the ropes militarilly. I only mention all of this because there seems to be a premise in your comment that an issue is Israels ability to prosecute this war; there isn’t, not even close. They’ve fought REAL wars and won 5 + mini-wars times alone.
As for Owens–she’s a mediocre intellect, at best, who just doesn’t sass and slur words so people listen, but she has little depth or breadth of knowedge though. She uses her sharp tongue to avoid thinking critically and logically and, most of all, to deflect criticism.

I’ve disagreed with Shapiro in the past — such as when he falsely claimed Trump was trying to argue that the alt-righters are ok just as long as they aren’t white nationalists. However, he’s absolutely right in this dispute.

“Owens acknowledged (not for the first time) her skepticism of America’s 1969 moon landing. Needless to say, Maher was taken aback, especially when she added, “I just want to know why we didn’t go back.””
Wow. Isn’t that statement bulletproof evidence of the woman being pig-ignorant. Great article Mr. Tapson.

Excellent article. Thanks for writing.

Candace and Ben are both young and have been brought up in this age of electronic age of misinterpretation. Candace will read more and learn more and Ben will be less flippant with his remarks as he ages. There are bigger battles to fight and some of them maybe come kinetic. We are in very unsettled place and we need a lot of circumspect before we speak. Our lives depend upon it.

Mr. Tapson, your article was one the best ones about the Shapiro/Owens dust up. I stopped paying attention to both of these people because Shapiro’s being a virulent, nasty, NeverTrumper and Candace thinking it was funny to demean heavier women (in an interview with Katy Hopkins).
I appreciated your view on Owen’s and her comments about the moon landing as I had ignored several YouTube videos discussing it. Also appreciate your mention of the groypers and Nick Fuentes. When I spoke out about he and his followers years ago I was hammered by them on social media. Also spoke out when Michelle Malkin began doing events with Fuentes. It was nice to have your article validate what I thought about them.

it never ceases to amaze me that comments about how innocent children in gaza are , the very same people who raped , burned , mutilated men women and children were once children themselves . they are now adults . so to stop it occurring again reduce them to charcoal and ashes young and old which is what hamas did to their victims and then some . once you have listened to those who had to do post mortems on the jews killed on oct. 7 you would soon change your mind on innocence abiding in gaza . as they often shout they [ love death ] their own words . give them what they want . when they get what they want they wont want what they get . candace is a prime example of theological ignorance and a lack of discernment . unfortunately it is the modus operandi of most in america . in the case of muslims , be careful what you wish for . if the children are innocent they will be in heaven , the adults in hell .

Great article, Tapson. You’re right, the spat between Shapiro and Owens has wider ramifications than just those two people.
Owens was wrong but Shapiro could’ve replied tactfully but didn’t, and things got worse from then on. It’s too bad.
I’m the type who tries to explain things to people rather than stress that they’e wrong, unless it’s a Dirtbagocrat or other lefty. Then I go straight to insults, because those fanatics refuse to listen to reason and facts they don’t like.

Candace Owens has done herself in. She can now join Ann Coulter in the once-great Hall of Losers.

I have not been a close follower of either Shapiro or Owens. But what I see Owens doing is puffing up her ego about being a “Christian” (as in, where is the humility, the love?) I say this as both a Jew and a born again Christian. It’s something I see some born agains doing when they feel challenged or want to energize themselves. If it were done to an atheist, or a Catholic, it would be obnoxious and stupid.
But doing it to a very public Jew, in a totally out of context way, looks to me just plain anti-semitic. In other words, Owens is saying, “I’m a Christian, you are just a Jew, so shut up.” The fact that Shapiro is also her boss, and she has the nerve to be so openly insulting, is unnerving. She is acting, IMO, as if the recent groundswell of anti-semitism supports her – as if Hamas and company has got her back, without declaring it.

Is there a word for Jews who tell Jesus jokes? I’m not anti-semitic but didn’t appreciate hearing Jesus jokes and slurs from Leftist Jewish friends back in my younger days in Los Angeles. I support Israel.
