This strange new leftist feminism is heady stuff.
First, it decided to erase the existence of women. Now it’s going back to a 17th-century approach in which men are the guardians of their wives and can be held accountable for their political views.
The Women’s March is calling for the impeachment of Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas after the release of text messages showing his wife, Ginni Thomas, pushed for then-White House chief of staff Mark Meadows to stick to efforts to overturn the results of the 2020 presidential election.
“The revelations that Ginni Thomas advocated for the overthrow of our democracy are disqualifying — not just for her as a human being of any decency, but for her husband Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas,” Women’s March Executive Director Rachel O’ Leary Carmona said in a statement.
The political views of women are disqualifying for their husbands? Awesome precedent. Can anyone explain the feminist ideal at work here?
Is it the job of husbands to control the political views of their wives? That’s the only logical explanation of the Women’s March argument. Justice Thomas can only be held responsible for the views of his wife if the underlying premise is that she’s not her own person, but under his guardianship and it’s his job to control her.
That’s the incredible feminist argument that the Women’s March has been reduced to.
Should Mr. Carmona be held responsible for his wife’s views and fired?
