The New York Times recently published a column by a left-wing academic (forgive the redundancy), John Della Volpe, director of polling at the Harvard Kennedy School Institute of Politics.
In his first sentence, Mr. Della Volpe reveals his politics.
He described young Americans as “stressed and sickened by thoughts of their rights and democracy slipping away.”
That is what Harvard and just about every other university tells America’s young people: “Because of the Right, you should be stressed and sickened — the Right is taking away your rights and destroying your democracy.”
The terrible irony is that there is a mortal threat to Americans’ rights and democracy — but it is entirely from the Left. Ever since Stalin declared Trotsky a “fascist,” the Left has labeled its opponents precisely what the Left itself is.
And it almost always works.
It is certainly working in America. Della Volpe writes: “According to the fall 2022 Harvard Youth Poll, a national survey I oversee for the Harvard Kennedy School Institute of Politics, 59 percent of young Americans believe their rights are under attack and 73 percent are troubled that the rights of others are threatened.”
Whatever the Left says is essentially the only thing the majority of young Americans ever hear. For almost six years, the Left has called former President Donald Trump a fascist. The current president of the United States went even further, declaring that most Trump supporters are also fascists.
Yet, Trump was president of the United States for four years, and civil rights were not abridged nor was democracy threatened. As regards the illegal entry of conservative protesters into the Capitol in January 2021, Trump repeatedly called for a peaceful protest and respect for law enforcement (as evidenced, in part, by his now-restored Twitter account). And, let it not be forgotten, that unlike the violent left-wing protests in 2020, which almost no Democrats condemned, the Jan. 6 Capitol breach was virtually universally condemned by Republicans — and the then-Republican vice president, Mike Pence, rejected the protesters’ demands to invalidate the 2020 election result. Moreover, the Left called Trump a fascist for four years prior to Jan. 6.
As regards Trump’s belief that the election was stolen, Democrats, including the losing presidential candidate, Hillary Clinton, claimed Trump did not win the 2016 election. And it has been a common left-wing tactic for decades to illegally occupy state offices, not to mention college presidents’ offices. In 2011, thousands of left-wing protesters took over the Wisconsin State Capitol in Madison for four months. More recently, in 2018, protesters took over a Senate office building on Capitol Hill demanding rejection of Brett Kavanaugh’s nomination to the Supreme Court.
It is not conservatives who threaten freedom and democracy. It is the Left; its party (the Democrats); the legacy media (virtually all mainstream media); and Big Tech (Google, YouTube, Facebook, TikTok and, until now, Twitter). They are the ones who suppress dissent — which, as I pointed out in my last column, is proof the Left lies, since truth-tellers have no need to cancel lectures, censor dissenters, manipulate search results, etc. The Left constitutes the greatest threat in American history to freedom of speech — the most important of all freedoms.
Yet the young vote for the Left. According to Della Volpe, these were the findings of exit polls from the recent elections:
In Arizona, the Democratic senator, Mark Kelly, won a whopping 76% of the 18-to-29-year-old vote, while the Republican, Blake Masters, received 20%, according to a CNN exit poll. In Pennsylvania, Lt. Gov. John Fetterman, the Democrat, received a lopsided 70% of the youth vote, compared with the 28% Dr. Mehmet Oz, the Republican, received. And in Nevada, Democratic Sen. Catherine Cortez Masto earned reelection against the Republican Adam Laxalt, thanks in large measure to young voters, 64% of whom voted for her, compared to Laxalt’s 31%.
In short, it seems that young Americans voted for the people who are ruining their lives.
It is the Left that is primarily responsible for the unprecedented levels of depression and despair among young people.
The Left deprived children of school for nearly two years — for no valid reason.
The Left ensured that young children not see anyone’s face outside their home for nearly two years — again, for no valid reason.
The Left frightens young people about their future — through its hysteria over global warming — in a way that no group ever before frightened young Americans.
The Left has destroyed the healthiest beliefs in a citizen’s life — especially in the life of a young citizen: Belief in God and belief in one’s country. God, religion, patriotism and the national flag have all become objects of mockery.
The Left lies to them about everything — from nonbinary genders to the founding of America to the extent of white racism in the country to opponents of the Left being fascists.
The Left works feverishly to prematurely sexualize children by talking about sex and the nihilistic falsehood of sex being “nonbinary” to children beginning in kindergarten.
The Left encourages taking children as young as 5 years old to observe and participate in “Drag Queen Story Hours” — featuring men dressed as women reading and dancing for them, often in a sexualized manner, and then having some of the children do the same.
The Left works feverishly to diminish the authority and stature of parents, the most important people in a young person’s life.
The Left has created the unprecedented explosion — not only in America, but in recorded history — of young people who think they are really a member of the opposite sex.
The Left corrupts young people’s ability to think clearly by suppressing common sense dissent. Everyone knows it is grossly unfair for a man to compete in women’s sports. But if a man says he is a woman, we are supposed to believe and to assert that it becomes fair. And any girl or woman who says it is unfair is threatened with expulsion from her team, the end of her chances for a sports scholarship to college and social ostracization.
Yet, they vote for their destroyers.

They don’t care and don’t think of the consequences as long as someone will change these baby’s diapers and feed them. They wake up crying in the morning wondering what they will be offended by, and if one out of a thousand cries about something, the others listen and join in since universities are now completely taken over by the Com-Left.
Here in NM, our Communist governor, very Pendeja, offered free tuition, ACTUALLY ALL BRIBES FOR VOTES! Even Republican students and their parents will vote for that. Biden’s loan forgiveness, an obvious bribe.

Excellent column! I would suggest, though, that the young are not the only ones voting against their interests. Our society has been so propagandized and is so largely ignorant that many groups disproportionately vote for leftist candidates whose policies are opposed to these groups’ objective self-interests. (See, e.g., American Jews. And don’t bother claiming I’m being anti-Semitic. I’m Jewish.)

But it must be understood that the “self” is an attribute of the individual not of the group. And the self, the mind of the individual is a good, it is every individual’s means of survival and achieving happiness, of flourishing. So long as individuals remain ignorant, or more importantly AFRAID, of this reality they can be easily led like sheep to vote against their individual, long-term, rational, objective, self-interest.

Yes! But what precisely does the propaganda and indoctrination consist of? That SELFISHNESS is bad, evil, immoral, or at best amoral. That man is basically SELFISH and therefore evil by nature and can not be trusted with freedom and liberty. That left to their own nature men will turn into dog-eat-dog predators. They will become callous, cruel, and indifferent to the misfortunes of others.
That altruism and self-sacrifice are necessary, mandatory, and a duty to be imposed and forced on man’s selfish and therefore evil nature by others; by the enlightened, by an elite, by a priesthood, by a ruling class, by the state.

Not pence but the courts and states should have rejected the phony election and tried to figure out what really happened. The election was the result of a concerted effort to block Trump. And it started before the election with the manipulated media. It is all a big lie. By the time it got to January 6 it was a done deal. The republicans and independents should change the system that let the Democrats turn us into a banana republic so they can rule the government and destroy the culture of America.

Even if they claim to be Socialists, they neglect that Marx believed that history went through phases and that the Socialist phase was merely a precursor, during which people would develop a new mentality, so that they could enter the final phase, Communism, where the state would wither away. So, if they’re Socialists it is only as a way-station on the way to Communism.
It seems the educational institutions have succeeded where Marx failed. Marx knew what needed to be done to achieve a “stateless” society was to eliminate the past for a future free of the constructs that perpetuate our capitalist environment. He just didn’t know how. The schools have discovered the dumbing down of our youth is the path forward. Teach the students nothing but “critical” tripe and they can’t help but desire revolution against the inequities of old. Morality triumphs over practicality. Most men will choose morality over practicality. So if people are unhappy but they believe they are being moral in pursuing misery and death they will pursue misery and death. The power of morality is the greatest of all intellectual powers.

What Marx did was to take the central moral code of Christianity, namely altruism and self-sacrifice for others, and stripped it of its supernatural elements. Marx secularized Christianity promising an eternal Paradise in the future instead of after death. But that future can never arrive, all Marxism does is produce misery on earth just like the Christian Dark Ages did. But the Christian Dark Ages could have gone on indefinitely because Christianity doesn’t promise Heaven on earth but Heaven after death.
