I recently wrote about a New York Times opinion piece in which former Obama speechwriter David Litt virtue-signaled his newfound open-mindedness after reluctantly befriending his brother-in-law, a Trump voter. He discovered what conservatives have always known: that it is possible to actually get along with someone of a different political persuasion, and it’s certainly not worth losing loved ones over politics. Litt concluded that perhaps the go-to Democrat tactic of shunning family members who voted Trump might even be, as he put it, “counterproductive.”
In response to that tepidly conciliatory Times article, a New York Magazine politics writer named Sarah Jones held fast to Left-wing intolerance, arguing last Friday that it was “good” to shun family members who support the Trump revolution. “It’s okay to go no contact with your MAGA relatives,” Jones wrote for The Intelligencer.
“Sometimes the act of knowing a person leaves you with no choice but to move on without them,” she wrote nonsensically. She went on to reaffirm the emotional punishment that the Left has called for countless times in recent years – severing ties even one’s own mother and father:
If my parents liked Alligator Alcatraz, I’d no longer speak to them. If they were rude to my LGBT friends, I’d block their numbers. Though shunning won’t work as a political strategy, there are still natural consequences for the way we speak and behave.
Actually, ostracizing family members over political disagreements isn’t “natural”; it’s the result of the Left-wing prioritizing of political activism above all else, even the closest of family bonds. It’s the result of making politics your god. Democrats, who are always pontificating about tolerance and inclusiveness, are actually incapable of tolerating anything or anyone that doesn’t align fully with their rabid adherence to the religious cult of progressivism.
Jones mocked Litt’s argument as “so naïve it borders on malice.” She grumbled contemptuously,
Too often, civility is another word for impunity. I can see what Litt gained from this quest for neutrality. He evidently feels better about himself, and family gatherings must be easier now. Nothing’s changed for anyone else.
In other words, there should be no concessions to unbelievers until the revolution is complete and full social justice is achieved. Sarah Jones would have been right at home among the ruthless Red Guard youth of the Chinese Cultural Revolution, dragging their own parents out into the street to be beaten to death for their bourgeois ways.
“Politics never stopped at the family front door,” she concludes. “Why pretend otherwise?” Because that attitude is a cruel, destructive, Marxist lie, that’s why.

In that same vein of pitting children against their parents, the showbiz industry rag Variety reports that The Simpsons creator Matt Groening recently fantasized about a future in which “kids across America will liberate their Republican parents from the cult of MAGA.”
Appearing on a panel at the San Diego Comic-Con last weekend, Groening regaled the crowd with mean-spirited jabs at Republicans like these:
We’re going to keep going. We’re going to go until somebody dies. When you-know-who dies, “The Simpsons” predicts there will be dancing in the streets. Except President Vance will ban dancing.
This is stupid, not funny, but fantasizing about dancing on their opponents’ graves will always get low-information progressives tittering. His prediction that Vance will be our next president, however, is right on the money. Groening then made another forecast:
The Simpsons predicts kids across America will liberate their Republican parents from the cult of MAGA. And here’s how you do it. Grab the TV remote, go to menu, go to controls, vertical controls, look for channel list and delete Fox News.
Again, this is just stupid. It’s clear why Groening needs a stable of professional writers to make his long-running show a success. But his lame joke unintentionally acknowledges that the media landscape is so Left-dominated that Fox News, which barely qualifies as conservative, is the only Right-leaning media outlet he or any other progressive can think of – and he’s advocating for eliminating it, because totalitarianism is the Democrat way. They cannot tolerate even one network that does not parrot progressive narratives.

Another thing the Left cannot tolerate is white people and traditional beauty standards. Actress Sydney Sweeney, 27, known for series like Euphoria and The Handmaid’s Tale as well as the recent romantic comedy flick Anyone But You, is now the target of the apoplectic outrage of blue-haired, septum-ringed white chicks everywhere who are denouncing the sex symbol’s new ad campaign as “Nazi propaganda.”
The blonde, blue-eyed Sweeney appears in ads for American Eagle jeans, a campaign that is stoking controversy and boosting American Eagle’s stock – because Sweeney is pretty, curvy, and all-American. It’s a welcome departure from the Left’s preferred anti-beauty aesthetics which highlight obese, sexless, nonbinary weirdos (I’m looking at you, Jaguar) and men playing at being women – and failing grotesquely.
“Genes are passed down from parents to offspring, often determining traits like hair color, personality, and even eye color,” Sweeney says in one video ad. “My jeans are blue.” The ad ends with the tagline, “Sydney Sweeney has great jeans.” Get it? Genes?
This wordplay, and Sweeney’s comfortable-in-her-own-skin sexuality, have triggered progressives all across social media, who see blue-eyed blondes with heterosexual appeal and immediately think, Aryan master race. White supremacy!
One ugly person on TikTok declared that the ad is so racist and Nazified that it will “be in history books.” Right up there with Leni Riefenstahl’s propaganda films. Another unattractive woman whined that a “company whose name is literally American Eagle” is promoting “fascist propaganda.” Yet another social media user fear-mongered that the jeans company created the ad to “revive the Third Reich.”
As Breitbart’s Warner Todd Huston notes, American Eagle “has actually done all the things these whackos have wanted. They have had ads featuring black and brown women. They have had ads featuring gays. They have had ads featuring overweight women.”
That’s not enough, however. Just as Matt Groening wants to snuff out what he believes is the only conservative media outlet, the feminist Left cannot tolerate even one ad putting a pretty blonde white woman on display for “the male gaze.”
Let them hyperventilate. I’m off to buy some American Eagle apparel.

I’ve had people tell me I have good genes. My grandmother, may she rest in peace, lived to be 90. One of her sisters lived to be 104, may she rest in peace. Her daughter lived to be 100, may she rest in peace. All of them were mentally alert, up to the end, with minds as clear as moumtain spring water.
