This is a rising problem.
Even as the media aggressively campaigns to gain control over Facebook and other social media platforms with a manufactured “fake news” crisis using its “fact checkers”, it’s escalating the harassment of ordinary people with doxxing campaigns.
The latest is a Daily Beast story about a Florida pastry chef employed by Trump’s Mar-a-Lago.
There is nothing newsworthy about the woman doxxed by the Daily Beast except that the website doesn’t like her politics and doesn’t like her employer, Mar-a-Lago.
This has become a trend with overt doxxing efforts by the Huffington Post, CNN and a variety of media organizations.
There needs to be some enforcement on the social media end.
Facebook, Twitter and other companies claim that they ban harassment and doxxing. The same standards should apply to media doxxing.
