When a man caught two people burglarizing his vehicle in Uptown New Orleans, he shot them, sending both to hospitals, New Orleans police said Saturday.
The 30-year-old man took matters into his own hands Friday at about 9 p.m. in the 2700 block of Nashville Avenue, just below South Claiborne Avenue, the Police Department said.
Officers were told the man saw his vehicle being burglarized, heard a gunshot and returned fire, striking both alleged burglars. The wounded, a 29-year-old man and a 16-year-old boy, made their own way to hospitals.
The vehicle owner was not injured.
Not all heroes wear capes. Most just carry guns.
In New Orleans, woke Mayor LaToya Cantrell decided to stop enforcing laws, some people are protecting themselves and taking the law into their own hands, which is ultimately where the law originates.
Laws exist to protect people. When they no longer serve that function, when the authorities decide that laws ought to go unenforced in order to protect criminals, people will do what they can to protect themselves.
