If the left really cares about anti-Semitism, maybe it should stop palling around with anti-Semites?
Andrew Gillum, Tallahassee mayor and Democratic nominee for governor of Florida, center, marches to the Caleb Center arm-locked with Al Sharpton as part of the “Souls to the Polls
Gillum had surrogates at church services throughout Miami-Dade and Broward on Sunday, including the Rev. Al Sharpton, who made the rounds at a number of African-American churches in Miami, exhorting parishioners to get and out vote for Amendment 4, the provision that would allow felons to be able to register to vote after completing all terms of their sentences.
“The church represents restoration, the church represents another chance,” Sharpton said. “All of us have sinned and come to ask God to forgive us and give us some mercy. We need to extend that to ex-felons in the state of Florida and return them to full restoration.”
Yankel Rosenbaum, the Jewish man murdered by racist thugs in Sharpton’ anti-Semitic pogrom, would have appreciated some mercy.
So would the Hispanic women working in a Jewish store burned to death as a result of another Sharpton anti-Semitic campaign.
Sharpton is credited with saying, “If the Jews want to get it on, tell them to pin their yarmulkes back and come over to my house,” as a response to the Crown Heights riot. That is a fallacy; he made that threatening comment about the growing Jeffries controversy on August 18th, the day before the riot began.
The next evening, according to the sworn testimony of Efraim Lipkind, a former Hasidic resident of Crown Heights, Sharpton started agitating the crowd.
“Then we had a famous man, Al Sharpton, who came down, and he said Tuesday night, kill the Jews, two times. I heard him, and he started to lead a charge across the street to Utica.”
When Sharpton was asked about the violence, he justified it: “We must not reprimand our children for outrage, when it is the outrage that was put in them by an oppressive system,” he said.
This is the anti-Semitism that Democrats, the media and the same professionally outrage lefties blaming Trump for Squirrel Hill turn a blind eye to.
This is what Gillum and the JTA are comfortable with.
Over twenty years ago, five young Latino women were among the seven victims of a fire. They were in their late teens and early twenties. They were mothers and daughters. One had two young boys at home. She might have been watching them get married today. Another helped support her mother.
The fire was set by an armed racist gunman who told blacks to leave and began shooting.
Sharpton’s lieutenant, Morris Powell, headed the Buy Black Committee with the National Action Network and chanted, “Don’t give the Jew a dime” outside Freddy’s Fashion Mart. Other protesters shouted, “Burn, Cracker, burn.”
Powell had escaped in the seventies from a mental hospital after he had attacked a police officer with a lead pipe while shouting, “I am going to kill you, pig.” In the eighties he had been on trial for breaking a Korean woman’s head during another protest.
And Powell defended the killer as “A Black Man who struggled for his people to be free.”
