If you’re a Trump administration official and you refuse to appear in front of a partisan witchhunt committee, you can go to prison, but if you’re Joe Biden and you turn down an invite, well then you’ve somehow erased its existence.

At least that’s the theory that the media is going with in heralding Biden’s refusal to testify before the House Oversight Committee as the “end of the investigation”.

Refusing to testify doesn’t actually end an investigation.

But Team Biden is hyping a response letter from Biden’s counsel as if it were some sort of slam dunk.

“Your Committee’s purported ‘impeachment inquiry’ has succeeded only in turning up abundant evidence that, in fact, the President has done nothing wrong. Yet rather than acknowledge this reality, your March 28, 2024, letter contains the same litany of false allegations that have been repeatedly debunked and refuted by the very witnesses you have called before your Committee and the many documents you have obtained… your insistence on peddling these false and unsupported allegations despite ample evidence to the contrary makes one thing about your investigation abundantly clear: The facts do not matter to you.”

How many times did Biden’s lawyer watch ‘A Few Good Men’ and other Aaron Sorkin talkathons before drafting this?

The House committee actually asked Biden to respond to ten questions. He’s choosing not to tell the truth while claiming that he doesn’t have to answer questions because the facts don’t matter to Congress anyway.

In the process the letter falsely claims that “the President has done nothing wrong” while refusing to reply to simple questions such as…

Have you met, spoken to, or otherwise interacted with Jonathan Li of Bohai Industrial Fund and/or Bohai Harvest Rosemont?

Have you met, spoken to, or otherwise interacted with Ye Jianming of CEFC?

Have you met, spoken to, or otherwise interacted with Henry Zhao of the Harvest Fund?

And, really the kicker, “Did you ever ask your brother James Biden about the source of the funds he used to pay or repay you?”

Those are all questions, particularly that last one, that Biden understandably doesn’t want to answer because they would incriminate him.

For example, we obtained a July 30th, 2017, WhatsApp message from Hunter Biden to Henry Zhao, where Hunter Biden wrote: “I am sitting here with my father and we would like to understand why the commitment made has not been fulfilled. Tell the director that I would like to resolve this now before it gets out of hand, and now means tonight. And, Z, if I get a call or text from anyone involved in this other than you, Zhang, or the chairman, I will make certain that between the man sitting next to me and every person he knows and my ability to forever hold a grudge that you will regret not following my direction. I am sitting here waiting for the call with my father.”
