Politics is often pathetic, but there’s still a good deal of pettiness in making Attorney General Garland take the fall for Special Counsel Hur’s report in which he described Biden’s serious memory problems.
Joe Biden has told aides and outside advisers that Attorney General Merrick Garland did not do enough to rein in a special counsel report stating that the president had diminished mental faculties, according to two people close to the president, as White House frustration with the head of the Justice Department grows.
Biden and his closest advisers believe Hur went well beyond his purview and was gratuitous and misleading in his descriptions, according to those two people, who were granted anonymity to speak freely. And they put part of the blame on Garland, who they say should have demanded edits to Hur’s report, including around the descriptions of Biden’s faltering memory.
At which point Congress would have demanded the release of the unedited report making this an even bigger scandal, but Biden is angry at Attorney General Garland for not doing enough to cover up his memory problems and his son’s illegalities.
While Biden himself has not weighed in on Garland’s future, most of the president’s senior advisers do not believe that the attorney general would remain in his post for a possible second term, according to the two people.
“This has been building for a while,” said one of those people. “No one is happy”
By now one, they mean Biden.
Last year, Biden privately denounced how long the probe into his son was taking, telling aides and outside allies that he believed the stress could send Hunter Biden spiraling back into addiction, according to the same two people. And the elder Biden, the people said, told those confidants that Garland should not have eventually empowered a special counsel to look into his son, believing that he again was caving to outside pressure.
In recent weeks, President Biden has grumbled to aides and advisers that had Garland moved sooner in his investigation into former President Donald Trump’s election interference, a trial may already be underway or even have concluded, according to two people granted anonymity to discuss private matters. That trial still could take place before the election and much of the delay is owed not to Garland but to deliberate resistance put up by the former president and his team.
All that “grumbling” add up to materials for impeachment.
Biden isn’t angry at AG Garland because crime is high or some other general policy issue but because…
1. AG Garland didn’t move fast enough to prosecute his opponent
2. AG Garland didn’t protect his son from a special counsel investigation
3. AG Garland appointed a special counsel to investigate him
The media is reporting this stuff as it were routine politics when if a Republican, especially one named Trump, were doing this, it would be absolutely grounds for impeachment.
It was, of course, predictable that the vindictive Biden would blame Merrick Garland, but while Garland was giving Robert Hur his orders, which included exactly what to put in his report, we can bet our last dollar someone else is giving orders to Garland. It is the same someone (or cabal) that has been running the Executive Branch from the beginning. The story here is that Biden is so demented – and he was always stupid – he doesn’t even realize that his own puppet masters gave the orders to Garland and Hur, and those masters have decreed that Biden must fall in order for them to remain in power. I doubt very much that Biden even has any idea who their (and his) puppet masters are.

That might be a good hypothesis, except that Obama is not known for his energy or his intelligence. Hence it might be whoever was running him. Valerie Jaret, maybe?

As I posted with reference to another FPM column today, just like a Biden. Take no personal responsibility and always blame everything on someone else. Instead of what’s reported in this column Biden should get down on his knees and thank G-d he has someone as malleable as Garland as AG. If instead of him we had a different AG, one who had a scintilla of integrity, everything DOJ knew about the true story of Jan. 6 would have been revealed, Hunter would be completing his third year in prison, Joe would have been impeached for taking a $5 million bribe as well as for being an unregistered foreign agent, and then he would have gone public over being ordered to investigate parents attending school board meetings, etc.

As for this latest screwup, either he is a doddering old man or he should be indicted and tried for mishandling classified materials. Classic horns of a dilemma. In truth, I think it’s both.
To follow up on your point, had Hur not referenced Biden’s mental infirmities, but yet concluded not to prosecute him for willfully taking possession of classified materials he was not permitted to have, then Hur would have been forced to distinguish the Trump prosecution from the Biden declination by virtue of their respective political parties. It seems what Biden’s handlers really wanted was to exclude the dementia related information until after the election, on the assumption that Biden would win. Now that the worsening of the dementia can no longer be denied, it throws a wrench in the Democrat strategy to reactivate the Delaware basement and smear Trump. .

The special prosecutor, unable to ignore facts, with no other way out to save Joe, was FORCED to say “Yeah, he did it all right, but a jury would not convict.”
He was forced to say, in exculpation, that Joe ‘cooperated’ – irrelevant; and a lie on the face of it, as all Joe did was say he couldn’t remember, else it was his staff’s fault.
He was not appointed to investigate, all America saw the evidence in many photographs, he was appointed to find some way to save Joe and this was his solution.
Predicting the outcome of a prosecution, predicting what a jury will think or do, is not a significant part of a prosecutor’s brief, giving a trained opinion on the weight of evidence to hand, is.
Hur will make it into the history books for this clumsy fix.

A prosecutor’s job here is to see if the evidence is enough to support a conviction. Not speculate on a jury. And, ironically, Joe will not use that defence, he has expressly Indicated that.
Age and memory loss and even madness is no defence. They prosecute Nazis in their 90’s.
The question of PENALTY i.e. is for the judge, jury can find guilty (As if) and judge can then order him imprisoned until the rising of the court – followed by the bailiff shouting, “All stand. This honourable court is now in recess” or similar.

I am so certain because I’ve been in this position myself many times … in fact, I guarantee the only reason I had a job with a state health department was – to fix what Quota Quacks could not do and take the blame for fixing it. (In fact I made a number of records at the department, which would have guaranteed a high position and likely Federal appointment – had I been anyone but a straight white guy from the poor white trash part of town … and that’s a fact b/c I was ordered to train the Quota Quacks that were ‘installed’ …)

Why did Garland allow the report to be released ? According to the special counsel law, he could have buried it. Hur isn’t able to publish the report on his own.

(c) Closing documentation. At the conclusion of the Special Counsel’s work, he or she shall provide the Attorney General with a confidential report explaining the prosecution or declination decisions reached by the Special Counsel.
600.9 Notification and reports by the Attorney General.
c) The Attorney General may determine that public release of these reports would be in the public interest, to the extent that release would comply with applicable legal restrictions. All other releases of information by any Department of Justice employee, including the Special Counsel and staff, concerning matters handled by Special Counsels shall be governed by the generally applicable Departmental guidelines concerning public comment with respect to any criminal investigation, and relevant law.

AG Garland understood that, looks like Biden didn’t
In the Middle Ages, when the leader was weak, the Barons and such at the next power level down often tried to increase their own power. So it may not be a unified controller manipulating the Prez, rather there may be a power struggle going on between his underlings.
