What was to have been a rapid response to the Hamas massacre has become bogged down. Israel has mobilized 300,000 men for a ground assault that isn’t happening because of the Biden administration.
The initial show of support from Washington D.C. has instead become a hostage situation with the Biden administration delaying a response to let Qatar, a state sponsor of Hamas, negotiate some more for the release of the hostages.
Additionally, D.C. is concerned about its image in the Muslim world and would like Israel to avoid civilian casualties (all but impossible when fighting a terror group that hides behind civilians and sets up its infrastructure in hospitals, schools and mosques) and anything that will reflect badly on it.
Iran’s allies attacked U.S. embassies which means that the ground invasion must also be delayed to give D.C. time to fortify embassies in the region. How long will that take? Who knows. After the 9/11 attacks on embassies in Benghazi, Cairo and Tunis, you would think they would have been turned into fortresses a long time ago.
Iran’s Shiite allies, the PMUs, also began shelling American targets in Iraq. So more resources are needed to defend American interests there.
Considering the number of U.S. interests in the region, Iran has a lot of targets to choose from. And putting the United States on the defensive is then linked, wrongly, to delaying an Israeli ground assault.
The reality is that the only reason U.S. interests are being attacked is to get the White House to delay an Israeli ground operation.
The Biden administration chooses to make itself into a hostage and then rewards the hostage takers by giving them what they want. This defeatism all but ensures more of the same and makes the survival of Hamas all the more likely.
Tehran has this administration’s number. It’s been badly compromised by Iranian agents who are inside our OODA loop and know how to snarl it and loop it back on itself so that nothing gets done.
Israel has to break free of this Mobius strip because Biden won’t.
Jeff Bargholz says
Israel needs to cut ties to America. Every Dirtbagocrat administration betrays it in favor of the Paleosimians. That country doen’t need friends like the USA government.
Trump is gone and all honor went with him.
Taylor says
>Israel needs to cut ties to America.
It cannot, even if that were desirable. ALL of Israels air assets are American, as are ALL of the power pants in its tanks, amoured vehicles and naval platforms. There is NO WAY to replace them and Israel doesn’t have anything like the human and industrial capacity to design, build and field their own.
Moreover, though Israel could conceivably do without $B/ yr in foreign aid, it cannot do without extensive American diplomatic support. There are–for example–only 5 members of the UN security council who have veto power over UN decisions. China, Russia, France and Britain simply will not replace the US veto and its the US veto which holds BDS at bay. There are innumerable instances of the US pulling Israeli chestnuts out of smaller diplomatic fires.
The above is just for starters. What Israel neds is a bona fide AMERICAN POTUS in there Oval Office.
Jeff Bargholz says
Bullshit. Israel already has as many fighter jets and tanks as it needs, and it was able to get them long before the scumbag American government started bribing it in its IDIOTIC two state “solution.” demands. Did they get American weaponry in the 1948 war for independence? Did it rely on America in the 1967 Six Day War? President Eisenhower fucked over Israel in the Suez. He was a rabid anti Semite, even though he’s seen the death camps in WWII. What a piece of shit he was.
What a load of shit. FUCK every Dirtbagocrat government. President Trump was the only one who was trustworthy and truly helpful to Israel. Alzheimer Joe’s handlers are UTTER scum dedicated to helping Hamas and you know it.
Taylor says
Israel has already lost this war–and the diaspora will lose along with it. Arabs marching in London, NYC, Berlin….Skokie–SKOKIE, of all places–and Jewish students are being shit on even more than they have been on campus. The media is having a field day running rough-shod on us.
I’ve spoken with six Israeli friends (in Israel) since this started and the women and children are freaking out–as the army and air force lob explosives into Gaza while Hamas laughs. Watch and see how many Israelis bail Israel once the extent of the military and diplomatic defeat is fully understood.
Jewish morale will not recover from this–and that was Irans plan all along. The left and its Muslims allies will win and Jewry will dissolve at a an even faster rate than it has been. We’re fucked.
Jeff Bargholz says
Israel is bombarding the shit out of Gaza right now as Hamas tries to hide. Day and night. There are thousands of IDF troops at the Gazan border right now, ready to go. Who are the real losers? And the Iron Dome knocks down Hamas missiles.
Iran is next on the hit list, no matter how loudly Alzheimer Joe’s handlers bitch and moan.
Your Hamas buddies are going down.

Great post
Talk to the Jews in this country and ask them why do they still vote for the democrats
Jeff Bargholz says
Not all of them do. Jewish support for the D-Bags is exaggerated.
fsy says
There is a great difference between the politics of strongly religiously identified Jews and the rest, who don’t particularly care about Israel.

Nice analysis, thanks Daniel!

I live in Jerusalem, and I’m terrified to trust the current political and military leadership, who were responsible for the disastrous fiasco of Oct. 7, to carry out this planned “ground assault”. Where is the investigation into the colossal incompetence or worse, treason that left the South defenseless and let hours go by before a response to the terror attack came?
Besides this, what is the long-term goal? Destruction of “Hamas”? The majority of the 2 million Arabs in Gaza support the ideas of Hamas (mainstream Islam), and even if all the leaders are killed, something similar will appear in no time.
I don’t have any answers, and I’m certainly not advocating anything like exiling all the Arabs from Gaza (a total impossibility in any case, for many reasons). I’m only stating my concern with the wild, revenge-motivated rush into an action which could have vast costs for us without very much if any gain.
Jeff Bargholz says
The artillery barrage of Gaza seems effective. I don’t know why ground troops need to go in but I’m not a military strategist. I seriously doubt the IDF could rescue any hostages.
Taylor says
It’s ineffective at reducing Hamas’ hold on power. Only troops on the ground can do anything about that and the moment to do so slipping away.
Jeff Bargholz says
Sez you, the arm chair General. What the fuck can ground troops do that artillery can’t do better? The only reason the IDF should go in is to flood or poison the Hamas rat warren tunnels.
Taylor says
>>Where is the investigation into the colossal incompetence or worse, treason that left the South defenseless and let hours go by before a response to the terror attack came?
Like the Agranat Commission post October ’73, you’ll have wait. Once the commission does get rolling, it will be years–like several decades–before the full results are available to the public. Once the commission does come to a conclusion, some heads will roll and many changes will be implemented.
There was no treason. There was–and is–a severe shortage of manpower in the IDF thanks to people with names like Sternhall, Haas, maybe a few Weiners, Adlers and the like pissing in young Israelis ears and convincing them to dodge the draft–which Israel does NOT prosecute. A shortage of manpower means that Israel must choose what, where and when to guard and with how many troops. They left their backs unguarded in the Gaza envelope because they thought trouble would come from other locales. What signals were and were not there to be detected and why they were missed will be the subject of a commission.
The attack was launched at 6:30AM; it was very, very fast and the attacking forces only had a very few miles to cross before closing with their targets. The first troops from Shaldag 13 arrived within an hour. As more troops showed up, by noon there were nearly 1500 Hamas attackers dead–thats somewhat more than half the attacking force demonstrating the superior fighting skills of IDF troops.
There was no treason, there was a. an Israeli conception of Hamas’ frame of mind and goals, b. an assumption of where trouble during a national holiday might come from and, again, c. an IDF thats chronically short of manpower.
I empathize with your feelings.
Jeff Bargholz says
Shortage of manpower? An experienced war reporter on Newsmax just now said he saw more IDF soldiers massed on the border of Gaza than any military contingent he’s ever seen.
Your Hamas butt buddies are going down.
Taylor says
I moved to Israel at 15, completed high school, served in a Nachal battalion and went on to university. You’re dense, Bergholz. You also dont know what you’re talking about when it comes to Judaism, Jews and Israel–and you’ve no idea how bad the IDF manpower shortage has been for 15 years now, notwithstanding that its been in English-language Israeli press often.
Find something else to take umbrage over that you’re actually a party to. Maybe develop some kind of identity thats bona fide and not borrowed.
fsy says
That doesn’t sound like the information I’ve been getting. Do you think that articles like this
http://www.chananyaweissman.com/article.php?id=551
are just lies with their reports of many hours before the IDF responded?
Taylor says
Rav Weissman is often angry and his writing always reflects that. Reread his article: it’s an angry and inaccurate parody of Miki Zohar in the TOI. It says nothing about reaction times; nothing at all. Shaldag 13 started moving into the battle space within one hour of the first alarm. Read A7 and the BESA site, instead.
Anyone who says that it took hours to respond is a liar. It took several hours to deploy battalion-sized units, but it took a lot longer than that for the USMC to respond to the embassy attack in Saigon–notwithstanding that battalions of marines were located in Saigon.
fsy says
Just because someone is angry doesn’t mean he is wrong. What are A7 and BESA? Standard govt. propaganda?
fsy says
Are you happy that investigations like this take years and that the reports are hidden from the public?
NAVY ET1 says
None of us truly understand the slog and the grind of having to deal with international leaders from an Israeli leadership perspective, and I’m personally glad that I don’t, but as one who knew how fast the IDF could mobilize several decades ago, I wish Israel would have just “done the deed” and, by the time the international community knew something was going on, Bibi would be explaining the reasons for the smoldering hole that once was Gaza. Every minute that passes leads further and further away from that eventuality and closer to a repeated and highly enriching performance from Hamas.
Sword of The Spirit says
There are moo slims running the Joke Biden administration. Need I say more?
Kasandra says
Yup. Biden is a weak fool and he has put all the pro-Iranian crowd from the Obama administration around him.
truebearing says
Biden made his “we stand with Israel” statement to puff himself up as a take no prisoners war time president, when in fact he is standing on Israel to give Hamas and Iran time to react to the Israeli war prep.
In a serious fight it is better to count on no one than to rely on false friends whose only contribution is shadow boxing in the limelight of the media.
Jeff Bargholz says
Exactly. Alzheimer Joe’s handlers want to help Hamas and screw Israel.
Una Salus says
Very dark. Very dark indeed.
