Jen Psaki turned White House press conferences into a Twitter account, heavy on mindless smug snark and mindless talking points and light on everything else.
But it turns out that Psaki was just using that to audition for an MSNBC gig.
After Psaki though, expect things to get even worse.
The White House announced Thursday that Karine Jean-Pierre will replace Jen Psaki as White House press secretary in the coming week.
Jean-Pierre, the current the principal deputy press secretary, will become the first openly gay person and first Black woman to hold the role of White House press secretary. The White House said that Jean-Pierre would assume the position on May 13.
Which means that asking her questions will now be not only sexist, but also racist and homophobic.
Karine Jean-Pierre was Kamala Harris’ chief of staff. And you know how great that campaign was. But Kamala only brought her on in a failed effort to score points with lefties because Karine Jean-Pierre had formerly been a senior advisor to MoveOn.
In other words, she’s pretty much a member of the Squad.
The chief of staff for Democratic vice-presidential pick Kamala Harris applauded the 2020 presidential candidates who chose to skip the 2019 AIPAC Policy Conference.
“You cannot call yourself a progressive while continuing to associate yourself with an organization like AIPAC that has often been the antithesis of what it means to be progressive,” she wrote.
Jean-Pierre slammed AIPAC for opposing the 2015 Iran nuclear deal, which the United States withdrew from in May 2018. She further criticized having Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu speak, considering his indictment for alleged fraud and bribery, and that “under his leadership of Israel, according to the United Nations, Israel may have committed war crimes in its attacks on Gazan protesters.
Jean-Pierre slammed those on the left side of the aisle who attended the conference for rebuking Reps. Ilhan Omar (D-Minn.) and Rashida Tlaib (D-Mich.). Since entering Congress, Omar and Tlaib have been accused of an anti-Semitic and anti-Israel agenda with the former accusing AIPAC, the largest pro-Israel lobbying organization, in February 2019 of paying members of Congress to back Israel, saying it was “all about the Benjamins.”
“Instead of standing for progressive values, some Democratic members of Congress did just the opposite: They attended the conference and proceeded to bash the freshmen congresswomen who paved the way in identifying AIPAC as the obstacle to progress that it is,” she wrote. “But disavowing AIPAC and skipping its conference isn’t anti-Semitic.”
Going to AIPAC is a choice. Spewing antisemitism on social media, the way Rep. Omar has done, is antisemitism. And it’s what Biden’s new White House press secretary supports.
