Black voters, predictably, saved Joe Biden’s campaign.
Biden got 61% of the black vote in South Carolina. Sanders had to settle for 17%, Steyer for 13%, and Warren for 5%. In short, it wasn’t much of a contest.
Sanders and Warren, as usual, did really well with people who never attend religious services. If only they hadn’t been running in South Carolina.
During the SC debate, the candidates made a point of highlighting their religious bona fides. Steyer even referenced the cross in his closing remarks.
With the Democrats essentially becoming a party of secular white lefties and black religious women, this was not a good battleground for Sanders and Warren. Or for Buttigieg, whose empty pseudo-religious platitudes fell on deaf ears.
He got 3% of the black vote.
And I know it’s a media meme that a bunch of Republicans have picked up, but it has nothing to do with the policing in South Bend.
Black voters have once again given Biden a second chance. The question is what he’ll do with it. And by ‘what’, I mean how many stupid things he’ll say to torpedo his campaign again.
