Jewish groups rose up in protest over the introduction of an ethnic studies curriculum in California that promoted BDS while ignoring anti-Semitism (but not Islamophobia.) Various other ethnic groups in California protested over their lack of inclusion and so it goes back to the drawing board.
But expect the next version, due by March 2020, to define anti-Semitism, follow the JFREJ line by blaming anti-Semitism purely on Neo-Nazis while claiming that accusing minorities of anti-Semitism is racist, while doubling down on the BDS and anti-Israel materials.
By then it will no longer be low-hanging fruit and the bar will be higher.
Superintendent Tony Thurmond mentioned anti-Semitism, in his recommendation, but failed to note the anti-Israel materials.
This was a setback for the anti-Israel activists responsible for this hateful mess, but it’s far from an enduring defeat.
