Mayor Bill de Blasio recently blamed a coronavirus spike on an Orthodox Jewish wedding. But it’s not just Black Lives Matter rioters who get an exemption from following coronavirus rules.

So do celebrities.

New York City quarantine rules are now being enforced on travelers from 34 states, requiring a two-week isolation if arriving in the five boroughs for longer than a 24-hour stopover.

That is, if you’re just a citizen. If you’re a celebrity or part of their crew, you can apparently come right in.

The New York Post is reporting that the likes of Ariana Grande will not be subject to isolation for performing at the 2020 VMAs, which take place Aug. 30.

To summarize, the current rules in New York City are that you can’t have a Jewish wedding or funeral, but you can have a race riot or awards show.

“The Mayor’s Office of Media and Entertainment and Citywide Events is working in close coordination with the production to ensure guidelines are being followed,” a City Hall spokesperson said to the Post.

The exemption only extends to the show, according to a governor’s spokesperson. The stars must quarantine if they stay in New York after the VMAs.

Your average gym and bar owner would appreciate this exemption which seems to only extend to MTV and its corporate owner.

But the state Department of Health has granted the VMAs a semi-exemption to the quarantine rule.

They can “participate in the production of the show,” a spokeswoman for Cuomo said, “but they will only interact with other members of the cast and crew and will quarantine when not working.”

Perhaps Cuomo can add this to his book on leadership, why celebrities working on an awards show get exempted from the rules. Or add that to his poster.

This is the Democrat ethos. Some people are better than others because of their politics or fame.

The good news is you no longer need to be a member of the Cuomo clan working for CNN to get exempted from corona rules. Just famous.
