Here’s a little flashback to the previous D.C. budget debate.
Mayor Muriel Bowser returned next year’s budget to the D.C. City Council unsigned, claiming it’s “unsustainable.”
In a letter addressed to Council Chairman Phil Mendelson, she wrote that she “Cannot support a budget that needlessly increases our residents’ property and incomes taxes, raises the paid family leave tax to untested levels, or harms our public schools.”
D.C.’s 2024 budget approached $20 billion. That’s ridiculous for what is a relatively small city. D.C.’s budget is even bigger than San Francisco which is hardly a model of fiscal management.
But Bowser showed up to protest that D.C. needs more money.
Top D.C. officials protested a House Republican-written funding patch outside the Capitol on Monday, saying the omission of routine language included in prior continuing resolutions could mean a de facto $1 billion budget cut for the city government.
Mayor Muriel Bowser — flanked by Democratic Del. Eleanor Holmes Norton, members of the D.C. Council and other local officials — said the measure would force cuts to police, public schools, sanitation and other key city services if passed later this week.
“These are not savings for the federal government,” Bowser said. “This is simply damage to the District.” She added that it was a “$1.1 billion mistake.”
Here’s a thought that would solve this whole problem. Retrocession. Return most of the place to Maryland. And then D.C. can have its failed city government that will truly be ‘independent’ so long as there’s a free corridor for federal officials to travel into what is Newark on the Potomac.

No, not everybody gets Alzheimer’s disease, or even becomes senile. The claim that everybody would if they were to live long enough is baseless nonsense with no evidence to support it. Clint Eastwood is 94 and Dick Van Dyke is 99, and neither of them is senile. At those ages, it’s obvious that they never will be. Hell, Kirk Douglas was 103 when he died and he still had his wits about him even after a helicopter cash that only he survived and a stroke that left him partially paralyzed.
Alzheimer’s disease is rare and common senility is just a bit of forgetfulness, as in misplacing common items. I must be senile because I forgot where I left a folder yesterday for over two hours, right? Wrong.
DC is a failed city.
Yes, and in many ways the District of Corruption is a deliberate failure. Of course, its majority of voters choose their government based on race, so incompetent “leaders” are a foregone conclusion.

I doubt Virginia wants it either but maybe Puerto Rico would take it? Or just wall in off and make it a prison like in “Escape from New York.”
Poor Muriel Bowser. She mismanages Washington DC into the ground and then wants more money to mismanage it further. And idiot black voters mindlessly re-elect her.

What’s funny is that the late and unlamented “Black Lives Matter Plaza” was located behind the White House like it was an outhouse or the servant’s entrance. Stupid racists chose that location, too. Now the black supremacist name is gone along with the offensive street “mural.,” is being scoured away as the defacement of public property it was. It’s costing a fortune and has an artificially extended completion estimate, but both are miniscule in comparison to the money and time it took to inflict it on America in the first place. With Trump as the Chief Executive, not even the DC parasites can pad a project the way they’re accustomed to.

Washington, D.C.’s mayor fears that federal budget changes “would force cuts to police, public schools, sanitation and other key city services if passed later this week.” What outsiders may not know is that D.C. city services are corrupt and dysfunctional without regard to the level of funding. Yes, the mayor’s fear leaves me unfazed in the manner of Jazz Age wit Dorothy Parker when told that President “Silent” Cal Coolidge had died. Reportedly, Parker responded, “How can they tell?”

She has caused more destruction of DC than when the Brits burned the city to the ground during the War of 1812. Now she wants more money to drive the final nail in the coffin.
It’s no secret that you can find the filth when you diligently beat the rug.
The mistake was Congress’s granting the fraud of local rule to a city Constitutionally mandated to be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of Congress. A subcommittee could do all that is required, and the US Mardhals Service could provide the required peace officers. Already any offense in the District is a federal offense. So shut down the pretense of local rule.
America shouldn’t have a federal district and House representative at all. It isn’t administered federally and serves no purpose other than as a tax dollar siphon. Force it on Maryland or Virginia so all fifty states don’t have to pay its bloated budget.
And the city government decides how to spend its federal and local funds, so “cuts to police, public schools, sanitation and other key city services” would only happen if those are the budgets it wanted to cut. It’s just a threat in the tired old tradition of claiming the commoners will suffer if the Dirtbagocrats don’t get butt-loads of more and more money every year.
