There’s no room for conservatives on social media, in restaurants or in Harvard.
It was not a matter of if the pressure campaign against Kyle Kashuv, a Parkland shooting survivor who has been active on social media in pushing back against his hijacking of his experience for Bloomberg’s anti-Bill of Rights gun control cause, but a matter of when.
A pretext was needed. And it was supplied by one of his peers passing around slurs that Kashuv had written when he was 16 years old.
Harvard’s letter claims that it reserves the right to withdraw admission, “if you engage or have engaged in behavior that brings into question your honesty, maturity or moral character.”
It goes without saying that the idea of moral character or maturity envisioned by Harvard back when those words were formulated is radically different than anything today.
That said, if slurs made by a 16-year-old are grounds for withdrawing his admission two years later, then nearly no teenager would ever pass.
Harvard knows this. It’s a double standard.
Kashuv’s remarks as a 16-year-old would not have been public and blown up if he weren’t a conservative.
Harvard is not only rewarding cyberbullying. It’s rewarding cyberbullying aimed at conservatives.
Even as it engages in racial discrimination.
This is an issue that must be dealt with.
