Joe Biden campaigned from his basement. The question is does he still have one and how low is it?
The latest poll numbers offer nothing but bad news for Team Biden.
Joe Biden’s public approval rating fell to a new low of 40% this week, a clear warning sign for his Democratic Party as it seeks to retain control of Congress in the Nov. 8 election, according to a Reuters/Ipsos opinion poll.
The national poll, conducted on March 21 and 22, found that 54% of Americans disapprove of his job performance as the country struggles with high inflation and Russia’s invasion of Ukraine has pushed geopolitical concerns to the fore.
What’s keeping Biden so low are the independents.
While 77% of self-identified Democrats said they approved of his job performance, only 10% of self-identified Republicans and 27% of independents gave him a positive rating.
Republicans are always going to rate Biden negatively. Any chance he had of doing what Never Trumpers were begging him to and try to play uniter died a while back. And Biden’s policies have made it plain that he’s going to govern from as far to the Left as he can.
A 27% rating among independents is what’s truly catastrophic here.
The indies are pushing Biden deep into the basement, but he has managed to rebound a bit among Democrats. And while that’s something to be taken for granted, it also helps boost him. In the recent oversampled Gallup poll where the numbers looked better, there was a Democrat turnaround.
Now when you see the media pushing various agendas, so much of it is about preaching to the choir because there’s really no other strategy.
Boost Biden and the Dems among their base as much as possible. Write off everyone else and maximize turnout on your own side. The war and the sudden collapse of the pandemic state are really about locking in Team Donkey. Get the Dems to 90%, oversample the hell out of them, and suddenly the numbers look better.
