The greatest reason for the existential threat to America posed by the woke/the progressive/the Left is that liberals vote for them.
If liberals voted for their values, the Left-wing destruction of every American institution — the American Medical Association and medical profession generally; the universities, high school and elementary schools; and the military, among many others — could not happen.
This is the American tragedy in a nutshell: The Left votes its values. The Right votes its values. Liberals do not vote their values. Liberalism has almost nothing in common with leftism, yet virtually every liberal votes for the Left.
Liberals believe in racial integration. The Left believes in racial segregation (all-black dorms on college campuses, for example).
Liberals believe in the ideal of color-blindness. The Left rejects the ideal of color-blindness. In fact, the Left claims the very term “color-blind” is racist.
The Left maintains that all whites are racist. No liberals do.
Liberals have always believed in America (without ignoring its flaws). The Left believes America is and has always been a fundamentally immoral country.
Liberals have always believed in free speech, which, by definition, includes “hate speech.” The Left, on the other hand, does not believe in freedom of speech. There is no example in history — from the French Revolution to the Russian Revolution to the contemporary American campus — of the Left not suppressing dissent.
Liberals have always been in the forefront of those supporting Israel. The Left is anti-Israel and supports Israel’s enemies.
Liberals have always supported capitalism, knowing that there is no other economic system that maintains liberty or lifts vast numbers of people from poverty. The Left believes capitalism is evil.
Liberals regard the flag as a symbol of freedom. The Left regards the national flag as a symbol of racism and colonialism.
The Left supports giving hormone-blocking drugs to pre-pubescent children who say they are the opposite sex; removing the healthy breasts of teenage girls and young women who say they are boys; and castrating boys who say they are girls.
The Left fights for the “right” of men who say they are women to compete in women’s sports. No liberal does.
The list of liberal-leftist differences is almost as long as left-wing positions. So, the question is why? Why do liberals vote left, given that the average liberal has so much more in common with most conservative positions than with most left-wing positions?
There are three primary reasons.
One is that the average liberal has no idea what the Left is doing to the country. Whenever I relate a left-wing action or position to liberal friends or relatives, they almost all say, “That’s crazy,” and thereby dismiss the action or position as that of a handful of weirdos. Most liberals have no idea what leftists are doing to deprive children of their sexual innocence: Ask any liberal in your life if they know what “Drag Queen Story Hour” is, or that professors have to take oaths committing themselves to Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion in order to obtain or retain employment. In fact, I suspect few liberals even know what “DEI” stands for. Liberals read only The New York Times or The Washington Post or some other major urban newspaper and they only watch CNN and listen to NPR. Therefore, liberals know almost nothing about the Left.
The second reason is most liberals have chosen to believe that the Democratic Party is still the party of John F. Kennedy. They are fooling themselves. It is the party of Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Ilhan Omar, George Soros and teachers unions.
The third reason is liberals have been brainwashed from their youth to believe that Republicans represent “the rich” and that “Right” is synonymous with “fascist.” The opposite is true: it is the Democratic Party they reflexively vote for that represents the interests of the wealthy and that is stealthily and steadily imposing fascism — the merger of state and corporate power.
For these reasons, it is the nice liberal who is enabling the vile Left to destroy the country many liberals still love.
The label doesn’t matter: liberal, leftist, socialist, communist, they are all one and the same. The only distinction made here is that liberals will feign ignorance when shown the disastrous consequences of their favored positions.
If you think people will do the right thing given the chance you are wrong. People are in the state that they are because it is where they want to be. Liberals feign ignorance because they use the given talking points that excuse their positions.

It’s a re-do of the French “Popular Front’s” “pas des enemies au gauche” – there are no enemies to the Left. The liberals are simply incapable of criticizing the Left because they see themselves as co-religionists, just of a different phylum. Plus, they wouldn’t want to be judgmental, except with regard to anyone to their right.
The real modern liberal “value” is to side with anyone even a mile to their left, that than someone an inch to their right. The liberal “value” is to keep one’s self ignorant of anything that might change their mind. The problem with Dennis’ idea of liberals is that they no longer exist; or they’re called conservatives. Between liberal, leftist, socialist, Marxist and communist, there isn’t a hair’s breadth between them worth splitting.
Being a leftist isn’t just about the values you “hold”; it’s about the values you defend and support … by voting, money and signing petitions whether you agree with them or not. That’s not a tragedy. That’s moral depravity; they very substance of leftism. That’s what “liberals” do and that makes them leftists.
The late Fulton J. Sheen described it thus:
“The liberal of the last generation invoked liberalism to free economic activity from state control; the liberal of today invokes liberalism to extend state control over the economic order. The old liberal was a defender of Capitalism; the new liberal is reacting against Capitalism and wants some form of collectivism or state control.”

I am a Classical Liberal along the lines of Frédéric Bastiet c.1850. One of the best short reads I can think of is Bastiat’s The Law. I say this because in my opinion (not IMO!) the term liberal has been misused for at least the last 70 to 80 years.
Which leads me to the reason there is so much misunderstanding and disagreement in the world today: lack of consistent language. We don’t maintain the definition of terms anymore. What someone says today means something completely different than the same statement 20 years ago. It makes it a challenge to understand history, and many other things, for that matter. That’s where the cabal gets us. They put out all kinds of crap to confuse everyone but, when it comes to the law they’re much more careful to use legalese. The confused have no ability to debate as they are linguistically addled, so they just take whatever is thrown at them and put up with it, no matter how immoral or un-Godly it is.
Liberals believe that they are smarter than everyone else, nuanced thinkers, subscribers to the highest ethical code. Republicans are viewed as a common sense party, the great unwashed, dimwits. Liberals would rather destroy their institutions and themselves rather than concede that they are no more highly evolved, and more politically naive than the people they consider a bunch of stupid goobers.

The classic liberal died out during komandant klinton years & became extinct during obaMao regime, methinks. The regressive, loony wokesters have invaded & infected our institutions, colleges, mass-media, the Dim party & the spineless RINOS. Not to mention the sheeple. During Wuhan-covid hysteria, not even 10% of people resisted the tyranny of masking, lockdowns & jabs. I did. Proud of it. Imagine, my head didn’t swell at all. LOL
sorry to disagree with you dennis but america cannot be saved . neither dems or republicans are interested in saving anything but their own skins . the modern day titanic is in a race to the bottom . all once great civilisations had a life span of around 200 yrs. america has gone past its use by date . enjoy what is left of a once reasonable country while you can .
