Iran officials announced Sunday they will abandon the rogue nation’s commitments to the 2015 nuclear deal with world powers after the United States killed one of Iranian Gen. Qassem Soleimani in an airstrike in Baghdad Friday.

That would be the deal that Iran never actually kept. This story should be revised to indicate that.

1. Iran is going to punish Trump by jettisoning the final framework of a deal that it never kept and that Trump had already dumped.

2. The only loser in this scenario is Iran because it just robbed Europeans and other useful trading idiots of their plausible deniability on its nuclear program. This helps US diplomats and hurts Iran’s diplomats.

3. It’s a desperate effort to make Iran seem tough. But all it does is have Iran reveal what everyone already knew, but pretended not to know, in order to come off as tough. It’s the Walmart shoplifter trying to intimidate a security guard by admitting all the detergent he stole.
