None of the media profiles seem to mention that Merchan was recommended by Senator Schumer to Obama for a federal judgeship.
Senator Schumer also recommended State Acting Supreme Court Justice Juan Merchan to fill the remaining vacancy in EDNY. If nominated and confirmed, Justice Merchan would be the first Colombian-born federal judge.
It’s not clear what happened afterward. The nominees seem to have gotten in, but it doesn’t look like Merchan advanced beyond the recommendee stage, but the very fact that Schumer recommended him indicates strong political connections with the Democrat machine. What are his feelings about Trump? Probably quite bad. And yet he’s overseen the Wesselberg case involving Trump and a case involving Steve Bannon.
That ought to be mentioned in his bio, but the media is in the business of propaganda, not facts.
Here is what I’m worried about. If this goes to trial who are the jurors going to be? It’s in NY and 80% of NYC voted for Biden. There is no doubt that whoever the jurors are, even if the evidence is weak and not enough to get a conviction, these Leftist jurors will vote guilty.
I’m sure Bragg has a made up felony charge(s) in there as well. Does Trump go to jail, prison? How in the world does Trump get a fair trial in NYC?
Donald Trump may well not get a fair trial, but instead get a trial that is a fair. The jurors may be less biased at the start than after they confront intimidation resulting in a trial by peer pressure. The case is of course facially deficient and should be thrown out, but what was at least a system of law, not justice, now ignores the law.
Bragg did levy fake felony charges. What worries me the most is that this judge is the same crooked scumbag who threw Steve Bannon in jail for nothing and is in cahoots with Baggart and the Dirtbagocrat party.
Looks like a tough slog to me, a Democrat state, a Democrat city, a Democrat judge, a Democrat prosecutor, and a potential Democrat jury. Is there anything else 45 could be up against?
