It should come as no shock that politicians lie, and that politicians campaigning for office arguably lie the most. But Vice President Kamala Harris’ performance in last week’s presidential debate against the once-and-future president Donald Trump revealed that there is no limit to the shameless falsehoods and ugly smears to which she will resort in order to demonize the most feared opponent the Left in this country faces.

Throughout Kamala’s tenure as Vice President, critics have focused on the diversity hire’s epic incompetence, cringe-worthy word salads, and disturbingly inappropriate cackling. Not enough attention has been paid to her character. Yes, politicians on both sides of the aisle lie and to our discredit we too often shrug this off as a fact of life, but Kamala’s attempted character assassination of Trump was an unconscionable low blow, demonstrating that she has no moral compunctions about saying whatever it takes – truth be damned – to win this election. And if she is willing to do that, she will have no moral compunctions about lying to the American people as President, either, as long as it protects her regime and its agenda.

Kamala tried to fear-monger in the debate, for example, that Trump is a would-be dictator, claiming falsely that autocrats around the world are “rooting” for Trump in this election. To name just one refutation: Russian President Putin has already declared his support for Kamala, just as he supported Hillary Clinton in 2016. No one who isn’t afflicted with Trump Derangement Syndrome seriously believes that other autocrats around the world, from the Chinese Communist regime which owns Joe Biden to the Iranian mullahs, favor Trump. Kamala’s claim was simply a baseless, shameless lie.

Speaking of autocrats: she also laughably suggested that she and running mate Tim Walz are Second Amendment supporters who have no intention of taking guns away from American citizens. “So stop with the continuous lying about this stuff,” she had the nerve to tell Trump onstage, as if he is the liar. In fact, she has stated in the past that she supports an Australian-style mandatory gun buyback program. Just this weekend, in her only media interview since the debate, Kamala reiterated her support for an ”assault weapons” ban. Law-abiding American gun owners, who are the real targets of any Second Amendment restrictions, know that “assault weapon” can be defined in any way the regime wants, and that this definition will expand as necessary until the Democrat aim of a disarmed citizenry is achieved. To claim that Trump engages in “continuous lying about this stuff” is an outrageous lie in itself.

Kamala went on to try to paint Trump as having a secret, dark agenda to turn the country into a Right-wing dystopian hellscape. “What you’re going to hear tonight is a detailed and dangerous plan called Project 2025 that the former president intends on implementing if he were elected again,” she fretted.

Project 2025 is a 2023 Heritage Foundation policy blueprint for a future conservative administration. Trump has repeatedly disavowed it, just as he has repeatedly declared he does not support a national abortion ban, which is another lie Kamala, who is a proud abortion advocate, trotted out to suggest that as President, Trump will implement a Handmaid’s Tale, Christian nationalist patriarchy in which women are reduced to baby-making machines.

She also did not neglect in the debate to repeat a common, debunked Democrat hoax: that Trump threatened a “bloodbath” if the election doesn’t go his way. In actuality, as everyone who keeps track of the news honestly knows, Trump made the “bloodbath” comment during a speech in March as part of an economic argument about the impact of tariffs. But the truth doesn’t serve the vile Democrat agenda to demonize him as an instigator of violent insurrection. Shame on her.

Arguably the most outrageous smear was Kamala’s resurrection of the “very fine people” hoax, the Left’s repeatedly debunked accusation that Trump once said there were “very fine people” on both sides of the notorious 2017 Charlottesville protest, including the neo-Nazis. Even the Left-wing fact checkers at Snopes.com confirmed that Trump specifically rebuked the white supremacists. And yet the Democrat leadership – no one more often than angry, hateful Joe Biden himself – continues to raise the specter of this smear whenever useful. Kamala brought it up again in the debate:

Let’s remember Charlottesville, where there was a mob of people carrying tiki torches, spewing antisemitic hate, and what did the president then at the time say? There were fine people on each side.

This was an easily disproved lie on Kamala’s part, but of course, she was not called out on this or any other falsehood by her support team, the two ABC moderators – one of whom is a sorority sister of Kamala. Perhaps they were busy marshaling their notes for the next “fact-check” of Trump.

Kamala’s litany of smears is a reflection of her Party’s end-justifies-the-means ethos as a whole. To cite just one recent example: over the weekend, the Left’s flagship propaganda outlet The New York Times published a hit piece on Donald Trump’s running mate with a disgusting smear of a headline – “JD Vance’s Blood-and-Soil Nationalism Finds Its Target” – trying to link him to Nazism. (The headline was later replaced after intense social media backlash – too little, too late. A responsible journalistic outlet would have fired anyone and everyone involved in allowing that headline to go to print.)

To paraphrase the late, great NFL coach Vince Lombardi: Kamala Harris’ shameless debate performance confirms that for Democrats, power isn’t everything; it’s the only thing – and they have no scruples when it comes to seizing and maintaining that power by any means necessary. The truth be damned.
