Senator Kamala Harris has serious hearing problems.
There was the time when she raised her hand in support of taking away everyone’s health insurance, and then, after the backlash, claimed that she hadn’t properly heard the question.
Now she’s got hearing problems again.
Sen. Kamala Harris’s (D-Calif.) apologized Saturday after a questioner in New Hampshire described President Trump’s actions as “mentally retarded” when she laughed and responded with “well said.”
In a clip of the Friday event, the questioner, wondering why congressional Democrats have declined to move forward on impeachment proceedings, asked Harris what she was “going to do in the next one year to diminish the mentally retarded actions” by Trump.
“Well said,” Harris responded as the crowd applauded before adding, “I plan to win this election. I’ll tell you that.”
The Harris campaign referred The Hill to an interview Harris did with CBS’s Caitlin Huey-Burns on Saturday, in which Harris said the man’s use of the phrase was “not something that I really heard or processed.”
Harris obviously isn’t apologizing for the insult to the President of the United States. Instead she’s apologizing for seeming to approve of a politically incorrect term.
Meanwhile, Harris had tweeted, “My message is simple: We are stronger than this. We are better than this. And we are all in this together.”
Or to paraphrase Michelle Obama, “When they go low, we call them mentally retarded, and then pretend to have hearing problems.”
