The Biden campaign has nothing to run on next year except abortion. So Kamala will visit the one campaign stop that really, truly matters.
Vice President Kamala Harris plans to tour a Planned Parenthood clinic in Minnesota that provides abortion services Thursday, according to three sources familiar with the planning.
A 59-year-old childless woman who got her political start as the trophy girlfriend of an aging corrupt mayor is quite the ad for Planned Parenthood’s services.
I don’t want to get too deep into the culture war weeds here, but do Kamala and PP really want to be associated with each other? This is a marriage that is a little too on the nose.
What exactly is the pitch here?
The ideal pitch for PP is, “I was a 17-year-old and I made a horrible mistake.” The less ideal pitch here is, “I’m 59 and the closest thing I have to a child is my Jewish husband’s creepy antisemitic stepdaughter.”
Kamala’s life is an ad for something, but it’s the kind of something that’s more of a cautionary tale. Give up on your dignity, on family and your dreams and one day you too can be the widely despised Veep.
The one thing Kamala doesn’t need is Planned Parenthood. And PP doesn’t need Kamala. It might remind its clients a little too sharply of the direction their lives are headed in.
