This is embarrassing.
It’s shameful even by the low standards of the worst, most famous, and most irrelevant paper in a one-party state throwing out all the stops to save Newsom.
Larry Elder is the Black face of white supremacy. You’ve been warned – Los Angeles Times
“You’ve got to be real scared and desperate to play the race card against the brother from South Central,” Larry Elder retorted.
The LA Times column comes from Erika D. Smith, a Cleveland lefty, whose bio shows she went to Solon High School. Solon is a three-quarters white, ten percent black suburb that’s fairly prosperous.
Smith’s previous hit column was, “California doesn’t need antifa, but the rest of the country sure does” in which she argued that Antifa needed to go to pro-Trump parts of the country.
“I certainly don’t agree with every violent tactic employed by antifa. But I also spent years living in a state where far too many people bury guns in their yard, join militias and are stockpiling hollow-point bullets, helmets and bulletproof vests in preparation for “the revolution.” I know these people. I even count some of the non-racist ones as friends – although since Donald Trump got elected, we haven’t been on the best of speaking terms. But that’s another story.”
Another story indeed.
Smith’s dumb smear of Larry Elder begins by noting that he’s talking about fighting crime.
Larry Elder smiled the smug smile of a Black conservative who could very well be liberal California’s next governor.
“Where do you start with the damage Gavin Newsom has done to the state that we both love?”
He leaned forward to gaze across the room of white Republicans who had come to a hear him speak in Orange County.
“Rising crime? (It’s) because of this phony narrative that the police are engaging in systemic racism and cops are pulling back,” Elder said. “… When you reduce the possibility of a bad guy getting caught, getting convicted and getting incarcerated, guess what? Crime goes up.”
Then another smile, this one even more smug than the last.
“Can you say, ‘Duh?’”
I won’t lie. Few things infuriate me more than watching a Black person use willful blindness and cherry-picked facts to make overly simplistic arguments that whitewash the complex problems that come along with being Black in America.
These are the same arguments being made by Eric Adams in New York. They’re being made by Democrat black mayors, police chiefs, and politicians all over the country.
They must all be white supremacists.
