The three legs of the anti-Trump stool are the media, elements in the FBI and the Clinton campaign.
The Clinton campaign funded the Steele dossier. Fusion GPS injected it into the media and the DOJ. The FBI was feeding information to the media. The IG report, among other sources, makes that very clear. But here’s a case of the media feeding information to the FBI.
A meeting last year where Associated Press reporters discussed with federal officials the news outlet’s investigation of former Trump campaign chairman Paul Manafort’s finances may have led the FBI to a storage locker the bureau raided, an FBI agent testified Friday.
That’s an interesting reversal. But as I’ve written in the past, the media, elements in the FBI and the government had formed a network dedicated to overturning the 2016 election.
In response to an earlier question about how the agent became aware that Manafort used a storage locker for many of his business-related files, Pfeiffer said: “Either through my investigative efforts or through a meeting that occurred with reporters of The Associated Press.” Pfeiffer said a reporter mentioned the locker at the meeting, but the FBI agent was not sure whether that was the first time he’d heard of it.
Comey’s vagueness seems to have filtered down. Of course any Republican claiming vague memory will be facing charges from the FBI before you can say, “Clinton Foundation.”
But this sketches out more of the collusion between the media and rogue elements of the government.
