Every time you think that the Left is as hopelessly clueless about the consequences of its policies as is it megalomaniacally ruthless about lying and abusing power to implement them, something like this happens.
Alone and Exploited, Migrant Children Work Brutal Jobs Across the U.S. – New York Times
Arriving in record numbers, they’re ending up in dangerous jobs that violate child labor laws — including in factories that make products for well-known brands like Cheetos and Fruit of the Loom.
I can’t imagine who might have seen this coming. People with working brains and a week’s worth of life experience perhaps.
What other outcome did the New York Times anticipate when it loudly agitated for migrants to be able to cross the border in the millions, when it insisted that detaining child migrants and refusing to release them to anyone who showed up to claim them was the cruelest thing imaginable?
Where did it expect those kids to end up?
1 In gangs like MS-13
2 Child labor alongside their families
For a paper that claims to have a global scope and understand history, the Old Gray Lady seems to know nothing of either.
It was almost midnight in Grand Rapids, Mich., but inside the factory everything was bright. A conveyor belt carried bags of Cheerios past a cluster of young workers. One was 15-year-old Carolina Yoc, who came to the United States on her own last year to live with a relative she had never met.
About every 10 seconds, she stuffed a sealed plastic bag of cereal into a passing yellow carton. It could be dangerous work, with fast-moving pulleys and gears that had torn off fingers and ripped open a woman’s scalp.
The factory was full of underage workers like Carolina, who had crossed the Southern border by themselves and were now spending late hours bent over hazardous machinery, in violation of child labor laws.
Has the New York Times rethought the wisdom of funneling across underage migrants who, in the best case scenario, are going to end up like Caroline?
Nah. It just wants to enforce labor laws.
That’s like dumping tons of heroin into Michigan and then urging tougher drug laws. If the Left hadn’t created a massive supply of illegal underage labor, this wouldn’t be happening.
Twelve-year-old roofers in Florida and Tennessee. Underage slaughterhouse workers in Delaware, Mississippi and North Carolina. Children sawing planks of wood on overnight shifts in South Dakota.
Mission accomplished. Gives yourself a pat on the back, lefties.
“No human is illegal”? Pretty sure this is illegal in both senses of the word.
The pro-illegal alien Left now gets to own 12-year-olds being torn apart by machinery to make Cheerios.

lol, first thing this evening that made me laugh. People that don’t know history, haven’t traveled in the 3rd world, don’t know economics, clueless.

Well said……

The hypocrisy astounds. Let’s quote the NY Times at length. Let’s take NY T reporting at face value, when the reporting supports my point. If the reporting doesn’t, then the NY Times is a Communist rag that can’t be trusted.
The moral turpitude appalls. Let’s rejoice in the fact that children are forced into inhuman labor. “I told you so!!!” Your reader above reacted in the way you hoped: “lol”.
The cynicism disgusts. What do you propose to do, to insure the welfare of these children? “Send them back where they came from.”
Comparing children to heroine. Suggesting that the only two possibilities for young people escaping violence, poverty, and prosecution and coming into the US are gangs or child labor.
How low can you go?

Escaping violence, poverty and persecution? What a load of shit. They’re just freeloaders looking for handouts who found out they have to work as wage slaves to survive here in Dirtbagocrat America.
You’re a piece of shit. Child slavery is evil and so are you. Jack London described it back in the day, although you’re too illiterate and ignorant to have read anything he wrote. In fact, I have no doubt that you’ve never even heard of him. You probably read “Archie” comics if you read anything at all.
Dick licker.

At comparing children to heroin, whatever response I had was erased by the indication that you are not at all a serious person.

Glad to see you’re more outraged over me pointing out the consequences of your open borders policies than over kids having to work in factories
keep that moral compass spinning

Escaping the results of left-wing governments in their own countries is what it is. Unfortunately many don’t think that should be fixed either

your ignorance is breathtaking – get lost, tool

And a LOT of money is being made by importing these kids, courtesy of the U.S. taxpayer.

What a great photo to go with this piece. Please sir, may I have some more?

lol, good one 🙂

Yeah. Judging on the current members of the democrat party and their backers, they’re interested in another type of labor from the Mexican children.

Back over 100 Years ago they passed Child Labor Laws that prophited kids from working at Dangerous Jobs and required a good Education so why isn’t the UN doing anything to lift its fingers and end this all? Its time they quit waging their fingers in our face and started ending this all
