The Biden-Harris administration had been spying on Israel’s plans to respond to Iran’s attacks. Details of that surveillance and analysis appeared online and was spread by Iranian accounts.
Asif W. Rahman, a CIA official with top-secret clearance, has now been charged over the crime.
From the sound of his name, Rahman is likely a Pakistani. We don’t know yet if he’s an immigrant or born to immigrants. He was assigned to Cambodia. Why was a Pakistani CIA official in Cambodia given access to materials involving Israel and Iran? One possible answer is that Iran operates in Cambodia. Iranians use Cambodia for drug trafficking operations and they have visa-free travel to Cambodia. It’s possible that Rahman was tasked with keeping an eye on Iran and was compromised by Iran. That’s purely speculative.
What is not speculative is that the source of the leak of Israel’s attack plans on a Muslim terror state came from a Muslim CIA official whose sympathies appear to be with the Islamic Ummah, not with America or the free world. And that should raise questions about the practice of bringing in enemy nationals (Pakistan has close ties to Islamic terror groups and harbored Osama bin Laden) and giving them important roles in the United States government.
I don’t know that we should expect anything else from Rahman. We should expect more from the Americans who put him in a position to do harm to our interests. Only those of whom loyalty can be expected, can also be traitors. Rahman is not the traitor. Those who hired him and moved him up through the CIA are.
National security officials have refused to actually understand Islamic terrorism and have continued to hire and promote Islamists. That makes them a threat to national security.

Rahman was arrested? I bet he wasn’t even booked, much less had to spend the night in a cell. If guys like us dared to even look cross eyed at the authorities, you can bet we’d be locked away without a key in an eye-blink. And we wouldn’t be in a clean cell with upstanding citizens, I can tell you that from experience.
These days they can leak the info to Iran in seconds, as soon as Israel gives it.
I found a good book on Hannibal. He played some fantastic tricks on the Romans.
My favorite so far, the Romans had him surrounded in a valley. In the dark and confusion the Romans thought Hannibal’s troops were carrying torches and attacking there, so the Roman forces guarding the other side of the valley went to assist. Then Hannibal escaped with his real forces via that other side of the valley.

He had security clearances and access to classified informaiton because he was an employee of CIA. All CIA personnel have some level of security clerances. He was a case officer. He went through all the background investigations that every prospective emplyee of the Agency is subject to, based intially on Standard Form 86 (SF-86), which all applicants must fill out. It is VERY long form with your entire life history, including the names of your family. The Office of Security investigators doing the investigaiton will travel to whereever you have been, talk to all your references, past employers, friends, family, and the process can take months to complete before you get a call showing interest in you for possible hiring.

Spying against the United States, even for an ally, is a Federal crime. For one thing, you do not always know for sure if the people you are sharing classified information with may actually not be a representative of the ally you think you are working for. False flag operations occur all the time. The US. intelligence agencies have recruited people under the “flags” of other countries, representing themselves, for example, as being Australian, or other services. American intelligence officers have developed and recruited contacts while representing themselves as other than American intelligence, i.e., a “false flag”.
