Brilliant. Just brilliant.
Carrying on the great leadership tradition of Cuomo, his enabler and replacement, Governor Kathy Hochul has a plan for dealing with the health care worker shortages caused by vaccination mandates.
In preparation for Monday’s vaccination deadline, Governor Kathy Hochul today released a comprehensive plan to address preventable staffing shortages in hospitals and other health care facilities statewide.
The plan includes preparing to sign an executive order if necessary to declare a state of emergency that seeks to increase workforce supply and allow qualified health care professionals licensed in other states or countries, recent graduates, retired and formerly practicing health care professionals to practice in New York State.
Declaring a state of emergency and replacing qualified personnel with unqualified personnel seems like a fantastic plan.
Kathy’s Plan B is to send in the National Guard.
Other options include deployment of medically-trained National Guard members, and partnering with the federal government to deploy Disaster Medical Assistance Teams (DMATs) to assist local health and medical systems. Additionally, Governor Hochul plans to work with the federal government and other state leaders to explore ways to expedite visa requests for medical professionals.
So import foreign medical personnel, some of whom may not be qualified, and are frankly likely to be sicker than Americans.
And also deploy disaster relief teams and the National Guard even though there’s no medical emergency apart from the one that the state government created.
You can’t, for example, decide to fire half the cops and then declare an emergency. It’s not an emergency when you create the emergency.
It also goes without saying that an emergency means that people with medical problems are more likely to go untreated and die, that ER lines will get longer, and that more medical mistakes will happen as unqualified or new personnel are forced out to make way for, I believe the correct union term is, “scabs”.
This is going to kill people.
