J. Edgar Hoover’s famous mandate to every FBI employee was, “do not embarrass the Bureau!” In the day of Tommy gun wielding G-men, and Hoover’s tenure as the FBI’s monolithic director, the public image of an incorruptible, mechanistically analytic, and scientifically scrupulous cadre of federal investigators was almost as important as arresting bank robbers, wise guys, and Nazi saboteurs.
That mandate was passed down through the decades by Quantico instructors, class counselors, and seasoned training agents at the field offices. It was FBI lore and culture. We all learned it well, just like referring to the Special Agent in Charge as an S.A.C, unlike the Secret Service’s rather impolitic SAC (pronounced “sack.” Like a sack of…”). To be fair, the FBI has its own idiosyncratic foibles, referring to Assistant Directors in Charge as ADICs. You can see how that might lend itself to the creative application of impolite anatomic reference.
The phrase wasn’t a directive to cover up or deceive, it was an inviolable order to conduct oneself in accordance with the highest possible professional and personal standards. Nothing that could bring reproach on the mission of the FBI was to be tolerated. Fidelity, Bravery, and Integrity were to be the gold standard by which the finest law enforcement agency in the world was to be measured.
Therefore, “do not embarrass the Bureau” was sacrosanct — at least until Barack Hussein Obama and his lackey, former FBI Director James Comey. Their legacy has been one of gaffe, buffoonery, public humiliation, and betrayal. The sludge of politicization flowed from Obama’s Oval Office, with a candied surface sweet with the trite slogan “hope and change.” Comey’s infamous press conference, exonerating Hillary Clinton’s felonious mishandling of top secret information was Obama’s flanking of the Maginot Line, and portended the unthinkable acts of politicization to follow, especially after the instillation of his sock puppet, Joe Biden.
The FBI’s Office of Public Affairs has managed to embarrass the Bureau and just about every member of the former/retired Special Agent community I’m in contact with. In an incredibly tone-deaf and unaware post, the FBI’s X (formerly Twitter) account called attention to “Higher prices, dangerous products, and closing businesses. These are just some of the impacts Organized Retail Theft has on everyday Americans.” The post concludes, “Learn what the #FBI does to combat these crimes on the federal level to protect shoppers across the country.”
Anyone who isn’t half asleep, or blinded by DEI ideology, is aware that “Organized Retail Theft” has been perpetrated almost exclusively by minorities, stoked to larcenous mania by race-baiting leftists in government and legacy media, who agitate ceaselessly about institutional racism — institutions which liberals largely control. The swarms of smash and grabbers lustily fall on their victims, often minority small business owners, to plunder in the name of “reparations.” If one didn’t know better, you’d think the spate of strong arm robberies were part of a KGB action plan.
Not to be outdone by the hopelessly woke and inane hosts of The View, the FBI’s Office of Public Affairs affixed an image of two young, white females to the X post about organized retail theft. You can almost hear J. Edgar rustling around in his grave. This sort of dissonance spotlights how out of step the FBI has become. If this is how the FBI intends to position its front-facing programs, how will it ever hope to regain the trust of the American people? After all, that’s what Hoover’s axiom was all about — making sure the American people never lost confidence in its premier law enforcement agency. And, that was important simply because recruiting sources, a vital part of accomplishing the FBI’s mission, is a lot harder to do if you’re perceived as a clown show.
And, it doesn’t inspire confidence when the FBI seems incapable of properly identifying the perpetrators of organized retail theft, leaving people wondering just how the Bureau intends to “protect shoppers across the country” while chasing chimerical, marauding hordes of Karens.
Following hard on the tail of the X post gaffe, was the arrest of journalist Steve Baker. He was arrested by the FBI on March 1st after turning himself in to the Dallas Field Office, allegedly for some federal violation(s) committed on January 6th, though details have yet to be released. Reportedly, the FBI had been “hanging charges” over Baker’s head for two years, finally notifying Baker to turn himself in.
Baker attended the J6th rally and reported on events there, taking photographs and video for The Blaze, though not a full-time, paid journalist at the time. Subsequently, Baker was caught in the J6th dragnet, wherein he (presumably) and the vast majority of other arrestees have been charged with a spurious smattering of “federal trespassing charges.” Baker’s attorney posted on X, “To any federal LEO or prosecutor, past or present: Have you EVER had a misdemeanor offender who agreed to voluntarily appear in court for an initial appearance – and does so – then be cuffed for transport to court and THEN CUFFED TO A BELLY CHAIN IN COURT? EVER?”
After a local and federal law enforcement career spanning nearly 30 years, I can state categorically that it is beyond the pale to handcuff a misdemeanor subject and then perp-walk that subject in an obvious attempt to humiliate. A belly chain in court can only be explained by the DOJ’s fanatical zeal to persecute anyone perceived as supportive of Trump.
Additionally, a close colleague of mine posted on X, “…25 years in the FBI — four field offices and two FBI HQ assignments — I’m not even aware of an FBI investigation that involved a misdemeanor charge/arrest…This is 100% DOJ driven.”
When the dust finally settles, the FBI will be seen to have been the patsy of the Biden administration. With a complicit Director and fanatical Attorney General, the FBI will continue to run amok. Only a national leader like Trump can reverse the course and begin to restore the FBI’s true mission and reputation.

I think you’re making the mistake of assuming that the FBI has a legitimate mission in America. We do not need the Federal Bureau of Investigations. Their mission can easily be accomplished by state and local law enforcement.

Excellent point. Initially, before Hoover, the FBI was as its title implied, an investigative agency. Its job was information gathering, research and nothing else. Agents originally did not carry guns. Somewhere it evolved into the police force it is today. Or, in Biden’s case, the private army.

Yes, these woke clowns are killing the ratings for the F.B.I. TV show on CBS. Who can bear to watch a fictionalized account of the steaming excrement pile that is the actual F.B.I.? Uh Oh, what’s that I hear… a jackboot at the door?

RESTORE? Don’t think so – it’s too far gone! REASSIGN will be the answer! I’ve yet to hear these kinds of stories about the US MARSHALS so make sure THEY are CLEAN and then reassign the FBI Labs to their “purview” and simple PINK SLIP the rest!
I posted way back in 2015 that the next R President should offer a “Grace Period” for Gov’t EE’s to come forward, confess their SINS against Our Nation, and be disciplined accordingly. Those who had done nothing could be interviewed and retained. Those with “minor” crimes could face suspension, firings, and possibly loss of benefits! Those who committed MAJOR crimes could face prosecution and loss of benefits – PERMANENTLY and not just until a DEMOcrat comes into office!! A REWARD Program should be available for LEGITIMATE, EVIDENCE based whistleblowers!!
Every agency in our Gov’t should be trimmed – some getting a crew cut – some being absolutely scrapped! I suggest reviewing the last Shutdown and who were considered “Non-essential” and let them ALL go! We need ANOTHER SHUTDOWN just to make sure we have an UPDATED list!! All those low level clerks who have multiple layers of “management” over them can be replaced BY those layers of “management”! That will put them to actually working and their pay adjusted for their new roles – or they are FREE to take their “talents” to the PRIVATE SECTOR!

The FBI never really was that good. This is a partial list of FBI blunders. The keep adding new blunders so fast I can’t keep up.
1. Wen Ho Lee (Accused spy, falsely said by FBI to have failed polygraph)
2. Richard Jewell (falsely accused of bombing Atlanta Olympics)
3. Tsaernev Brothers (Boston Marathon Bombers – Russia warned FBI that Tamerlan Tsarnaev was a follower of Islamic extremism)
4. Anthrax Case (FBI falsely accused Steven Hatfill of having sent anthrax through the mail)
5. Stoneman Douglas high school shooter (FBI failed to act on a tip that he had made threats to shoot up a school)
6. Orlando night club shooter (FBI investigated man who eventually shot 50 people to death, but could find no reason to keep him under suspicion)
7. Ruby Ridge (FBI sniper killed mother holding child, then FBI attempted cover-up)
8. Withholding evidence leading to wrongful conviction of four men, three of whom were sentenced to death (To protect mob informant Whitey Bulger. Two of the men died in prison before the FBI’s misconduct was remedied by a court).
9. Esteban Santiago (killed five people in a 2017 attack at the Fort Lauderdale Airport, had been investigated and ruled not a security threat by FBI)
10. Zacarias Moussaoui (FBI headquarters blocked agents who wanted to investigate Moussaoui, a conspirator in the 9/11 attacks on the World Trade Center)
What good are they?

You forgot the scandal concerning the FBI forensic labs. Sometime in mid-2000’s. Caused hundreds of convictions to be overturned.:

FBI Blunders (continued)
11. 1993 World Trade Center bombing (FBI had advance knowledge of bombing, and bungled a plan to substitute harmless powder for explosives)
12. Surveilled and falsely accused journalist of collaborating with terrorists (James Rosen had obtained information from a government contractor on North Korea’s intent to do nuclear and ballistic missile tests)
13. Raid on Branch Davidian compound in Waco (FBI killed dozens of men, women, and children. Destroyed evidence immediately afterward by bulldozing the site, and lost evidence collected by others.)
14. January 6th “Insurrection” (FBI Failed to arrest some individuals inciting the public to enter the capitol, and other individuals in the capitol during Jan 6 “insurrection”, all captured on video)
15. Gretchen Whitmer kidnapping (FBI funded and encouraged a conspiracy to kidnap and kill the Michigan governor Gretchen Whitmer)
16. Considered planting child porn on a person’s computer (Sharyl Atkisson testified before a congressional committee that, after she wrote about Benghazi and Fast and Furious, a federal agent told her the FBI planned to infect her husband’s computer with child porn. Testimony in an unrelated court case revealed the FBI had actually done that to someone else.)
17. College gymnast molester Larry Nassar (FBI officials made false statements and failed to conduct a thorough investigation of abuser of dozens of college gymnasts)

Thanks for re-listing all of these. The mind grows weary, and forgets. I had forgotten the Sharyl Atkisson story. She is doing what she can now, with her own YouTube channel (and still looks great doing it).

Anybody really believe this happens by accident? Information lost or destroyed by the FBI, DOJ, and other government agencies:
1. Geofencing data which would have provided cell phone info on Jan 6 bomber was found to be “corrupted” by the cellphone system operator.
2. At FBI’s insistence, video tape of scene of Branch Davidian aftermath loaned to FBI by Medical Examiner, with understanding it would be returned. After repeated efforts to recover the video, ME was informed the video had been lost.
3. FBI Provided drone footage to prosecutors trying Kyle Rittenhouse for murder. When the defense tried to access “the rest” of the FBI footage from the night in question, however, the bureau claimed it no longer existed.
4. Multiple members the Mueller/Weissmann team investigating accusations of Trump collusion with Russia all within a few days “accidently” erased their cell phone text messages.
5. Original 302 from Michael Flynn interrogation lost.
6. Lois Lerner emails lost or destroyed.
7. Secret service text messages from Jan 6 destroyed, after a formal request had been made to preserve them.
Intrepid says
How about firing Chris Wray on day 1 of Trump’s term along with the entire 7th floor. Or is it the 9th floor…..who cares. Indict all the agents who took place in the Jan 6th set-up.
Just sayin’.

Here are some practical steps to control this: Remove their arrest authority and require them to send arrest requests to the States for local LE action. Realign the lab (s) outside DoJ. Prohibit them from accessing public and private databases without valid subpoena. Prohibit them from communicating directly with the Socials and banks without specific subpoena. Prohibit them from utilizing bank data from any other federal agency (looking at you IRS, DHS and ATF) without specific subpoena. Fire everyone who ever worked directly for Rod Rosenstein, etc. Stop hiring Ivy League lawyers to be Director.

I’m listening right now to the radio where the Justice prosecutor Hur decided not to take Biden to court even though he found Biden had illegally mis-handled classified documents. Biden has no defense since Hur found that Biden did this crime when he was Congressman and also as VP.
But Trump was charged-even though he has a defense, as President of the US. Whether or not this is a valid defense is to be determined. But the point I’m making is that Hur determined that Biden broke the law. In effect Hur was acting as the judge and the jury-even after, as a fact finder-he found Biden had broken the law.
What does this remind me of….? Hillary Clinton and the FBI. The head of the FBI James Colmey found that she indeed illegally covered her Email trails by bleaching her computer of Emails and using another computer to process her Emails.
But…. He decided not to charge her because he didn’t think Hillary’s did the criminal acts “”intentionally.”
Thus even in 2016 the bureaucrats of our FBI Intelligence Agency, after finding that a crime had been perpetrated decided Hillary’s crime would not be taken to court. The FBI in Hillary’s case and the Justice prosecutor in Biden’s case decided the guilt or innocence of the lawbreaker-not the courts or juries.
I think it was Benjamin Franklin who said-when congratulated by a woman on getting the Republic of America completed-“It’s yours ma’am if you can keep it.”
Apparently, we no longer can keep it.

Raze the Hoover Building and destroy its contents. Turn the site into a memorial park to the victims of this unconstitutional agency created by executive order. Cancel the pensions of all employees and dismiss them for cause without severance. Try, convict, sentence, and imprison the agents and supervisors who violated Americans’ rights. And prevent the creation of a successor agency. The limited power of the federal government to conduct policing is the province of the Marshals Service. And the investigative power of the DOJ should be carried out by investigators, not would-be cops. Oh, and repeal about 4,000 federal criminal statutes that duplicate state law and fall outside the powers enumerate to Congress by the Constitution. Then we can discuss the reputation of this heaping pile of bad behavior, performance, and outcomes.
