Surprise.
Human nature is fairly predictable. Lefty policymakers do their best to ignore human nature while pushing progressive policies without ever contemplating the fairly inevitable side-effects that will come about as real world people adapt to those policies.
If you tell prisoners that they can get out of jail if they test positive for coronavirus, what happens next will surprise no one.
Cases of COVID-19 in the Los Angeles County jail system have spiked by nearly 60% in the span of a week, according to numbers reported Monday by Sheriff Alex Villanueva.
It’s hard to believe anyone would want to get infected with the COVID-19 virus but that is exactly what Sheriff Villanueva claims is happening at the North County Detention Facility, or Pitchess Center, in Castaic.
Villanueva was the lefty social justice pro-crime candidate. He’s the last person in the world to lie about this.
Surveillance video from April 26 shows one inmate in Module 6 filling a drinking bottle with hot water, from a wall dispenser.
But instead of putting the usual coffee or ramen noodles in the cup, the inmate takes the full cup to a group of prisoners and they all proceed to drink from it, passing it around a few times.
Another video shows a styrofoam cup used the same way, as well as a face cover mask. Several prisoners sniff into and breathe in and out of it, passing it around. The plan, says Villanueva, was to spread the virus so they could get released from custody.
Now to the usual media zombies who get all their reality from the media, this seems crazy. Are they trying to kill themselves? Isn’t this just a ploy to keep these inmates in prison? Shouldn’t we free them at once before the death toll in prisons takes off?
Except that the mass deaths in prisons that the media and its pet epidemiologists were predicting never happened.
Your average prison inmate is not in the danger zone for a disease that largely kills people in their seventies and up. The gang bangers doing this sort of thing are not worried. They’re clever and they’re taking advantage of a broken pro-crime system.
