There’s no need for an autopsy, the body has already been torn apart a million different ways. There is no shortage of people offering their hot takes on why it was Republicans did so poorly in the midterms (including my own, which I believe to be the correct option). That being said, which person is to blame is not as relevant to the state of the Republican Party going forward as what they’re going to do about it. As the sharp elbows turn toward the future, where they eventually land matters. I have some suggestions, if Republicans actually want to win.
First, the idea that it was “candidate quality” isn’t completely without merit. Bad candidates don’t inspire anyone to show up and vote. It’s not always enough to get voters to dislike the opponent – unless it’s personal, a lot of people won’t bother showing up to vote against someone, and we need every vote we can get.
So, recruit better candidates and unite behind them. In a lot of these races Democrats picked the Republican. It was funny when it looked like the Republicans were going to win anyway – the idea was like Dan Aykroyd choosing the form of Gozer the Gozerian to be the Stay Puft Marshmallow Man – but Democrats crossed the streams and Republicans lost.
I’m not suggesting Republicans spend $50 million to help nominate weak Democrats like they did, but I’m not saying they shouldn’t either. In certain races, absolutely Republicans should go in and mess around in their primary process. Turnabout is the fairest of plays, perhaps the only truly fair play.
With that being said, and in the interest of fair play, the most important thing Republicans have to do is learn to play under the new rules for voting. Yes, mail-in voting is garbage, and ballot harvesting sucks. But they’re also both part of the reality right now. If Republicans don’t learn to be good at them, better than Democrats, forget about it.
There have been, and still are, all sorts of laws on the books in various states that are/were horrible. Democrats created the system of Jim Crow to make it impossible for black people to vote, for example. Those laws had to be destroyed, but until they were Republicans had to learn to win within them.
Republicans were only moderately successful in winning under Jim Crow, Democrat enforcers in the KKK were too strong, but at least the GOP tried. Today’s obstacles are much different and easier to overcome than the left’s burning bigotry.
Republicans need to stop with the whining about mail-in ballots and start encouraging their voters to use them. There’s no way to measure how many people didn’t show up on Election Day because something suddenly came up, but the number is obviously more than zero.
Moreover, it does not matter when or how a vote is cast, it counts just the same. Early voting is stupid – we managed to vote all on one day for more than 200 years (and we could count the votes in a few hours too), we should go back to that. Until we do, however, this is the way things are. The GOP needs to encourage people – hell, every person they come in contact with they’re fairly convinced will vote for them – to vote as soon as possible. Then they need to circle back to make sure they did it and harvest that ballot (if it hasn’t already been mailed) to ensure it gets to the polls.
These are the rules for now, they’d better learn to win within them because they’ve only excelled at losing while whining about them.
Fight to change them in the various states, but until that happens they’d better get good at what Democrats are currently beating the crap out of them doing.
Think of it this way: Imagine a tax credit you personally think is garbage (whatever it is doesn’t matter) and you are working hard to repeal it. Then imagine one year you qualify for it, and it would save you thousands. You’d be a damned fool not to take it. Does it make you a hypocrite? No. That’s the rule, and just because you’re trying to change the rule doesn’t mean you can’t and shouldn’t avail yourself of the rules while they exist.
In fact, if Republicans get good at ballot harvesting and pressuring people to vote early, by mail, etc., you might see Democrats call for ending those things because of it. Democrats oppose anything Republicans do well, even if Democrats used to do them well too.
As long as garbage voting rules are in place in states across the country Republicans need to get good at them. Dislike of the current reality doesn’t change it.

All of this article is complete nonsense.
There is no vote at all. Your vote is utterly meaningless and if 10x as many people vote for the repub candidate as for the dem, the dems and their operatives in the repub party will simply either “drag out the count” or “turn off the machines” and magically “find” the votes they want.
Kari Lake “got” 3% of the military ballots. Sure she did.
Meanwhile the treasury race in AZ recorded 100,000 more votes than the governors race. Bc obviously people cares more about that than the governors race. Sure.
You say anything about it, than some witless moron will babble “conspiracy theory” like a magic incantation, then go back to munching the grass.
The country is wicked. The people are vile. There is no honor, there is no ethics, it is just a bunch of cowards and liars who only care about their own selfish pleasures.
Any state where the vote is fairly counted is solidly red. Florida was a swing state for years. But the minute they have a governor that takes election integrity seriously, it turns solid red. This means it was always red.
A situation of no vote means in effect there are actually no laws.
But you keep on pretending you dont see that and come out with more articles like this one/

there is so much here that is lost. look at orange county , that was overhwelming conservative, there then can use the current system. but across the country that can’t work. look at arizona many ballots never “made it”!! th epeople are calling for a re-vote. getting RID OF THE MACHINES AND PUTTING N PAPER BALLOTS!! thats the only way. michigan is lost georgia like arizona will never get better unless paper ballots voting on the same day. people including democrats need to UNDERSTAND WHAT IS GOING ON FIRST. they have been lied to , once people realize that the country is lost due ot all the corruption, we stand together state by state, yes, not all states, like mine NJ may never come back, but PA needs to be completely rehauled. we CANNOT JUST SAY USE THIS SYSTEM THATS HERE NOW, THAT IS THE MOST IDIOTIC THING TO SAY. LETS ORGANIZE AND CHANGE IT BACK TO MANDATORY I.D. , PAPER BALLOTS, AND CRAP HAVING IT CALLED THE SAME DAY OF THE ELECTION LIKE WE USED TO, STOP WHINING TO US MR HUNTER ABOUT KEEPING THIS NEW NORMAL!! so much more i can write here but my head is going to explode

You have to win with the system in place to change the system – Right?
Don Davenport says
I hate to say you are right but you are. The system is far to corrupt and infiltrated. For the most part the demrats are in charge of the elections and counting the votes. They have and will simply manipulate the counts until their candidates win. And the complicit media will tell everyone “most secure election in American history” and crow “democracy is saved”.
And Trump running again is a joke. He couldn’t stop the fraud when he was the most powerful man in the world. He will never beat the machine that was responsible for his demise.
11bravo says
It took the dems a long time and effort to be able to cheat so easiy, and have no media digging into it.
We better start now. There is no other ( well, maybe one other) option that is practicle.

This is garbage. The idea that we should play in feces alongsi9de the lib/commie Democrats is utterly obscene. Better to “water the tree” than to engage in the dreck the Democrats do. We are not Satanists; we are not Communists!

One other aspect: no Republican candidate should agree to participate in a debate after the start of early voting.
All debates to take place by Oct 1.

As long as spineless, corrupt Republicans politically and financially sleep with corrupt, GOD Denier Democrats, nothing will change!

As the Chair of my local Republican Town Committee, I have already come up with a 22 month plan to get us ready for 2024, with the primary focus of getting out the absentee vote. I’m thinking of a canned PowerPoint presentation on an interesting topic that can be presented by Republican Town Committees at Senior Centers, Churches, Public Housing, Union meetings, etc. throughout Massachusetts for the next almost 2 years, getting the attendees emails and phone numbers, and when the time comes getting them to vote absentee for our candidates.

Good Job! We absolutely need to do this type of work. But as the article points out, its wasted effort if we don’t start playing the game like Democrats.

Two elections in a row have been stolen, blatantly, right before our very eyes.
Any major cases making it to a federal court have been dismissed on procedural grounds without any inspection of the evidence. No one having the appropriate authority and jurisdiction will touch national election fraud with a ten-foot pole. They dismiss them as soon as optics allow.
Not a single high-level “shot-caller” has been inconvenienced in the slightest. Only a scant few low-level “useful idiots” have been charged/prosecuted for election issues — none of which affected the official tally by even a single counted vote.
What disincentives exist to deter anyone from election fraud? I see more incentives than disincentives. At this point, I don’t even think they care that we know the elections are fraudulent, or if they are recorded committing fraud right out in the open.
The *ONLY* GOP candidates that win elections from here on out are the candidate that are *ALLOWED* to win.
If the candidate poses too much of a threat to the GOP/DEM establishment, they will simply run the same play-book and inject enough “secret” ballots into the pile to defeat them.
Trump and Conservative/Constitutionalists need to figure this out. Otherwise, Trump can’t possibly win.
I believe it will require doing away with our death-grip on maintaining a “secret” ballot — anonymized ballots allow election fraud.

Katie Hobbs blatantly stole the election in AZ from all the leading Republican candidates. She prevented many Republicans from even being able to cast a vote and refused to recuse herself from running her own election. She and the Dems are laughing at us for accepting it. Why did the RNC not challenge her legally when she refused to recuse herself? We have to admit what is being done to us and stop looking for “rational” explanations. Running cover for these criminals, as many conservatives are doing, hurts us. Kari Lake was leading by 10 points in polls taken right before the election. When the outcome of an election deviates that much from pre-election polls, there is clear evidence of fraud. I do think it would help if Republicans played by Democrat rules. We need to demand a forensic audit and recount of every single vote. Isn’t that what they did after Trump won? I wish conservatives would stop accepting their narratives – “bad candidates” etc. – and fight back. How were their candidates better? Fetterman, Whitmer, Hobbs, Kelly? They are all traitors who want open borders, open prisons, defunded police, and the destruction of food and energy production. and more We lose by agreeing with them.
L. Davyd says
I think the point isn’t that their candidates are better, it’s that our candidates are beatable.
11bravo says
I agree. Number the ballots for federal elections first. Compare that to the state ballots to expose that fraud. It will be obvious, and at least our federal guys will be legit.
11bravo says
Mike Lindell, with some numbers guys, and some gum shoes with cameras are finding a way to get to county offices and getting addresses connected to ballots. They then get hundreds of photos of empty buildings and fields. Show that to the county guys, and they stop sending out ghost ballots. Screws up the democrat cheating system, and they lose.
Google it for yourself. They are trying to clean as many states as they can by 2024.
L. Davyd says
Look everybody, Derek is right. As long as we console ourselves by taking the highroad, we will lose.
Every election and in every race, the Democrats pull out all the stops to win. They’ll even back a candidate that isn’t perfect as long as it’s better than the alternative, because they look at the bigger picture.
You have to consider the district, its voters, and the way they vote. The Democrats do because they know, a blue district votes blue, and red votes red. If you want to swing a race from red to blue, you can’t bypass purple. It’s a form of incrementalism that Democrats have perfected over time and use with precision. They’ve been using it in the school system for more than 40 years.
The same is true if you want to swing a race from blue to red. Our candidates in these districts need to adjust if they want to win. They don’t need to be perfect conservatives, but they do need to be better candidates.
