While Democrats and the media are waging an all-out war to shut down synagogues, Saturday Night Live blatantly flouted the rules for its show.
Audience members who attended Saturday Night Live’s much-anticipated season premiere last weekend received a welcome surprise on their way out the door: A check for $150…
New York’s coronavirus restrictions for media productions such as SNL make clear media productions can only have a live studio audience if it consists entirely of paid cast, crew or employees.
That’s where the check came in.
By paying the studio audience, NBC was able to count the audience members — who requested free tickets through a third-party website earlier in the week — as employees. That put the show in compliance with the state’s coronavirus rules, according to the state Department of Health.
1. The live audience rule was already a ridiculous loophole being extended to media productions. It’s a corrupt sweetheart deal. And this is going on while synagogues and churches are being shut down if they have more than 10 people on the premises, no matter how large the building is.
2. Saturday Night Live blatantly flouted the rule by pretending that audience members were employees. It’s going to go unpunished, even while Cuomo and De Blasio continue delivering their condescending lectures about public safety.
Just like the VMA’s allowed celebrities to come in without being quarantined, SNL was allowed to have a live studio audience instead of using canned laughter. Why? Because taking shots at President Trump is “essential” while prayer is non-essential.
At least 5 synagogues have been hit with tickets and $150,000 in fines was handed out, even while Gothamist was falsely claiming that there was no enforcement. SNL will not get any tickets.
Bruno, the Health Department spokesman, said the state has no reason to believe SNL didn’t follow the state’s COVID-19 guidelines.
“There is no evidence of non-compliance — but if any is discovered, we will refer that to local authorities for follow up,” he said.
This is how fundamentally corrupt the Cuomo crime family is.
