On the one hand, this was less of a screwup than the Pennsylvania assassination attempt. On the other hand, an assassin once again appears to have gotten closer than he should have been able to.
Sunday’s incident occurred while Trump was golfing at his course in West Palm Beach, Fla. Following the usual security procedure, a Secret Service agent moved one or two holes ahead of the former president, 300 to 500 yards away, according to Palm Beach County Sheriff Ric Bradshaw.
Around 1:30 p.m., between the fifth and seventh holes, the agent noticed a rifle muzzle poking through the tree-lined chain-link fence surrounding the golf course, Bradshaw said. The agent opened fire and Trump’s detail rushed him to a holding room.
The agent didn’t hit the assassin but did scare him away. And the response of the Secret Service was…
“The threat level is high,” Rafael Barros, the special agent in charge for the Secret Service, Miami field office, said during the Sunday news conference.
“We live in danger times,” he added.
Stuff happens in other words. And it seems to be happening to one man. No one’s scouting Delaware beaches or Bay Area fundraisers with sniper scopes, but Trump still can’t seem to get security. But hey, we live in “danger times”.
Palm Beach County Sheriff Ric Bradshaw said at the press briefing that because Trump is not a sitting president, the Secret Service was “limited” to “the areas that the Secret Service deems possible.”
“The golf course is surrounded by shrubbery, so when somebody gets into the shrubbery, they’re pretty much out of sight,” Bradshaw said.
“If he was [the sitting president], we would have had this entire golf course surrounded,” Bradshaw said.
He added that the “Secret Service did exactly what they should have done.”
And that’s what the Secret Service did.
The agency repeatedly denied requests from the Trump campaign for additional security measures at his public events, with officials citing limited resources.
Now there can be a new task force to investigate why this assassination attempt nearly went forward.
Not too wild of a conspiracy theory to say that the Secret Service set this one up to improve their image.
The new secret service is a danger to the GOP and it’s candidates they seem to screw up when it comes to Gop members but protect the stumbling bumbaling Biden at all costs.

Democrats have called Trump ‘Hitler’ so many times intentionally to call out the crazies…and it seems to be working.
I haven’t had this verified yet to my satisfaction, but I’ve read this guy was signing up mercenaries to fight in Ukraine as long as they could pay their own airfare to Moldova.
Here’s the thing for these wannabe ground pounders: if the wrangler is sniping with an AK, you can be sure you’re paying your way to your own death because sniping with an AK-47 is like fishing with a flyswatter. Probably the most inaccurate rifle ever made.
The swamp (or as my House Representative calls Washington, “an open sewer”) is scared. They see it all ending. That’s why no less than five Democrats openly ramped up the rhetoric immediately following the assassination attempt.
That’s the problem with situational ethics. If you can convince yourself that killing millions of innocent babies is a “woman’s health issue”, it’s not a stretch to attempt to assassinate ‘Hitler’, is it?
Rev. Franklin Graham says we need to be in constant prayer for Trump’s safety…and truer words were never spoken.

How could the secret service have missed the assassin? Are they not trained? This is like a slow motion nightmare.

With all the name calling coming from the Dems, directed squarely at Donald Trump, I suppose it’s not surprising that some loon would get tricked into irrational action. Was that intended? I can’t say, but I fully expect the name calling to stop, maybe for a few days and then resume.

It looks from several pics that Trump is not wearing armor. And it’s obvious that Iran, the Kemala campaign, DNC, or the FBI/CIA are hiring patsies who can’t shoot. It’s obvious they have people stalking him. And the SS is still noy operating on all cylinders.
And what’s with the AK….the platform of terrorists. Not exactly the most accurate rifle. Any .30 cal or 6.5 rifle is way more suited for the task. But they do cost more.
Trump should always be surrounded by the Secret Service even when he is on the Green. It’s only 50 days until the election. Maybe he should forgo playing golf for a few weeks. We cannot afford to lose this man
The threat will not subside after the election, if Trump actually wins and is sworn into the office of the Presidency in January. It will only ramp up from there and likely involve more professional hit teams.
We are well past the point when Trump should have reached out to Erik Prince to form his own security force. [Prince recently testified to Congress on protective security operations as part of the investigation into the first assassination attempt on Trump.] He can pull on experienced SOF operators, and he never lost a protectee in the years of operating in active war zones. Whether they would be allowed to officially “supplement” the Secret Service detail is an open question, but if Trump actually has the option to dismiss them and replace them with his own security detail (at least until Jan 20 if he wins the election) I suspect his odds of surviving would go up dramatically.
There is apparently a leak in Homeland Security or Secret Service as the golf date was not public info.
It was a spur of the moment game, which makes it even more suspicious.
Since the perp was waiting in the bushes since 0100 am, even that doesn’t seem likely. I think random coincidence is the explanation. Not very satisfying, but hard to imagine he learned of a last-minute decision to play golf in time to wait out in the dark. Lots more to learn, obviously.

President Trump can forgo outdoor rallies – although that was temporary, the man is an avid golfer and his only exercise. with the first assassination attempt, the USSS should have had the golf course surrounded – then there are the drones with explosives. USSS is not to be trusted after now the second attempt on Donald Trump’s life – President Trump must add his own security to sweep and watch and work with USSS and find out where the holes in their protection of President Trump is and see the patterns, This is a deliberate set up again!

Although I consider them my LE brothers and sisters, the USSS has recently proved they cannot do the work. It is a leadership, maybe a political problem.
