The emboldened Antifa types took their show on the road to Georgia in the battle over what they call ‘Cop City’. The Leftist attackers have been waging a guerrilla war with firebombs, lasers and guns, but local law enforcement isn’t as crippled as the cops and the feds were in Portland. One of these folks was shot. And others are discovering that their usual tactics aren’t getting them where they want to be.
As Front Page Magazine previously documented, those tactics include providing cover for the violence using “street medics” and “legal observers”. That’s not flying in Georgia.
An attorney with the Southern Poverty Law Center is among the 23 protesters who have been charged with domestic terrorism after they allegedly hurled Molotov cocktails and fireworks at a future Atlanta police training facility, cops said Monday.
Thomas Webb Jurgens, 28, was one of the nearly two dozen people detained on Sunday in what police have described as a “coordinated attack” on the still-under-construction Atlanta Public Safety Training Center — dubbed “Cop City.”
Arson has been a leading leftist tactic in this battle. And is commonplace in lefty ecoterrorism and riots.
The ordeal unfolded when the protesters started throwing Molotov cocktails, fireworks, rocks and bricks at officers during the demonstration.
Atlanta Police Chief Darin Schierbaum described the flare-up as “coordinated” and said multiple pieces of construction equipment were set on fire at the 85-acre site outside of the city.
The Georgia Department of Public Safety said some protestors also tried to blind officers by shining green lasers into their eyes.
The SPLC is predictably standing behind its man.
“An employee at the SPLC was arrested while acting — and identifying — as a legal observer on behalf of the National Lawyers Guild (NLG). The employee is an experienced legal observer, and their arrest is not evidence of any crime, but of heavy-handed law enforcement intervention against protesters.
“This is part of a months-long escalation of policing tactics against protesters and observers who oppose the destruction of the Weelaunee Forest to build a police training facility. The SPLC has and will continue to urge de-escalation of violence and police use of force against black, brown and Indigenous communities — working in partnership with these communities to dismantle white supremacy, strengthen intersectional movements and advance the human rights of all people.”
Jurgens is a white guy. Not a whole lot of minorities share a last name with a prominent Nazi.
Most of those arrested are, based on the mugshots, white. Few are from Georgia. One is from France. The SPLC decided to back the rioters and the statement was released under the hashtag #StopCopCity. All of this is popular with leftist donors, I’m sure, but the SPLC is burning the last of its relationship with law enforcement. And that is a good thing for Americans.

Some low-life did that to me once at the beach when I was walking home along the shoreline. Afterwards I realized I should have just turned my back and taken a different route home. Like a fool I just kept going, the creep hit me with the green laser something like 25 times. I called the police when I got to the public phone but I wasn’t looking my best so they didn’t take me seriously, and soon zoomed off, even though I offered to take them to where the malefactor was sitting.

I saw this on the News this AM. 23 arrested and only 2 from George. If they had arrested all the protesters how many would actually be from Georgia? But the big question is, where do these people get the wherewithal to come to GA from 100s/1,000s of miles away? Are they being funded by America’s enemies?

This clearly involved interstate travel for the purpose of committing riot. Where is the FBI? Oh, I forgot.

They’re relying on the SPLC to tell them who the domestic terrorist groups are, go figure..

How many of the “insurrectionists” during J6 were just legal observers and their arrest is not evidence of any crime, but of heavy-handed law enforcement intervention against protesters? Just asking.

A “legal observer.” You can bet this guy’s a stoner and a very late phase adolescent.

These people never try this violence in a small conservative town. We all know what would happen.

Made that same comment this afternoon chatting with a friend.
Would not be surprised if some retired or bored geezers would welcome a call for help. All they’d need is an excuse to lend a helping hand tote their gear when citizens are ready to assist LEO.

If this happened in Dekalb County or most anywhere in metro Atlanta, this guy is probably already bailed out and back in Montgomery AL at SPLC HQ. We’ll probably never hear about him again, because charges will be quietly dismissed. IMO, prosecutors in the whole Atlanta metro area and the GBI are just as corrupt as the FBI.
