We are at the first anniversary now of one of the most grotesque episodes of ancient savagery wreaked upon the modern world: the October 7 attacks in Israel which left over 1200 innocents dead and many more wounded and/or taken hostage by the subhuman terror organization Hamas. But instead of solemn, worldwide commemoration of this ongoing nightmare, with unified sympathy and support for the Israeli victims and survivors, we are treated to the Left-wing counter-narrative of pro-Hamas, anti-Zionist protests and opinion pieces in the news media demonizing the Jewish state and drowning out the echoing cries of the Israeli dead.
Over the course of the last year, details and evidence of the massacre unfolded in eyewitness accounts, documentaries, and even video and testimony provided by the gleefully sadistic terrorists themselves. Decent people everywhere who dared to look found themselves staring into the bottomless abyss of Evil.
But the Left-dominated news media are not decent people. They burn with a forever hate for Jews and the Jewish state, and cannot bring themselves to see the terrorism of Hamas as anything less honorable than “resistance” against an oppressor state – a white oppressor, of course, because that’s how the reductive lie of identity politics works: Jews are perceived as oppressors and the so-called Palestinians are perceived as the oppressed, so Jews must be aligned with “white” or “bad” and the Palestinians with “black” or “good.” History, facts, truth, nuance – all of that must be cast aside so as not to undercut the simplistic, neo-Marxist power dynamics through which the woke view the world.
For example: Canadian Naomi Klein, a Guardian columnist and professor of climate justice (of course she is) at the University of British Columbia, published a truly execrable and heartless opinion piece this weekend titled, “How Israel has made trauma a weapon of war.” In it she argued that the state of Israel is exploiting the October 7 pogrom with memorials, films, and exhibitions in order to “stir support for limitless violence” – as if it is Israel, and not the antisemitic Muslim world and its woke Western allies chanting “From the river to the sea,” that is perpetuating what the media love to call “the cycle of Middle East violence.”
Klein complains that Israel is choosing to keep alive the trauma of the October 7 attacks, “an event that has been memorialized continuously since nearly the moment that it occurred.” Presumably she thinks everyone should be over it by now and get on with their lives, including the nearly 100 Israeli hostages who remain in Gaza (fewer than 70 of whom are believed to be alive). Meanwhile the Palestinians she champions still wail about the “trauma” of the Naqba – the “catastrophe” they call the creation of Israel. That was in 1948 and the Palestinians commemorate it every year, but Klein has not, to my knowledge, written a Guardian piece complaining they should be over it by now.
Klein adds that the Jewish state has the nerve to keep the memory of October 7 alive all “while Israel actively produces more grief on an unfathomable scale” in Gaza and Lebanon. She neglects to mention that the reason Israel is in those territories is to root out and eradicate Islamic terror organizations that have caused grief on an unfathomable scale. The culpability of any grief resulting from Israel’s righteous mission can be laid squarely on the doorstep of Hamas and Hezbollah.
Another example: the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC), a hopelessly far-Left propaganda outlet so blatantly biased it’s like a parody of itself, published this article over the weekend: “Events held marking one year since start of latest Middle East conflict.” Could there be a murkier headline in terms of exactly what happened a year ago that kicked off “the latest Middle East conflict,” and who exactly was responsible?

“What is that ‘One Year of Resistance’?” Greenfield asks. “Why are there rallies on the anniversary of the worst Islamic massacre of Jews in centuries?” He observes correctly that the rallies will not be “pro-Palestinian” demonstrations but protests but against Israel for fighting back against Palestinian terrorism, and the mainstream Western media is by and large collaborating by manipulating the narrative surrounding the rallies. It is a narrative designed to obscure the horrific truth of the October 7 attacks – the mass murders, the mass rapes and sexual torture, the burning alive of children and families, and on and on, all of which were celebrated by the Gazans – and to engender sympathy and support for the Palestinians.
Every headline and news story that blurs or twists the truth about Hamas barbarism and Israeli self-defense is a narrative designed to deny and erase Jewish suffering and to blame Israel for the suffering of Palestinians at the hands of their own leadership.
Every time CNN propagandist Christiane Amanpour crafts an October 7 narrative of Israeli aggression and Palestinian innocence, as she did in this interview with an Al Jazeera journalist, she is burying the stories of Israel’s victims and helping to isolate and demonize our tiny ally in the Middle East.
The narrative is not limited to the unholy alliance of Islamists and the Left, regrettably. Purported conservative Candace Owens’ full dive into antisemitic tropes since the October 7 attacks, including the demonstrably idiotic claim that Israel is waging genocide in Gaza, has mainstreamed a surge of Right-wing antisemitism that previously was limited to internet fanboys of the likes of slimy Nick Fuentes.
As this October 7 begins and the worldwide rallies celebrating Hamas’ slaughter of Jews commence, call out the media lies, shout down the genocidal slogans, and stand with the truth.

I think it may be of value to understand Ayn Rand’s beginning:
Ayn Rand was born Alissa Zinovievna Rosenbaum on February 2, 1905, in St. Petersburg, Russia. The oldest daughter of Jewish parents (and eventually an avowed atheist), she spent her early years in comfort thanks to her dad’s success as a pharmacist, proving a brilliant student.

For Americans unfamiliar with living without ANY individual rights, Ayn’s move here, her opportunities for the successful publications and sales of her books and philosophy are, in fact, predicated on rights provided and outlined in our Constitution, all of which are grounded in the statement in The Declaration of Indeoendence, “We hold these truths to be self evident that all men are created equal and endowed by their creator with certain unalienable rights -that among these are life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.”
How deeply ironic that this gifted Jewish woman became such a success in a country founded on inalienable rights based upon a sovereign creator she, like many others, denies.

No one in my family or circle votes `Democrat. Two rabbis here do not. I have attended groups of Jews of mixed denominations recently. There were zero Democrat voters!

I must respectfully disagree with your conclusion that antisemitism is a result of Jewish success. Since so many of the media and academics who excoriate Jews are themselves of Jewish ancestry, and since some even claim to be practicing Jews of some sort or another (“AsAJews”), most of whom are very successful in their fields and often quite well off, I doubt that the world’s hatred for us is due to our success.
I believe it has more to do with the essential moral standards that G0d gave us and charged us to pass along to the rest of the human race. We failed to do that via teaching the Noachide Laws, but our daughter religion, Christianity, was very successful at it and civilized much of the world, at least for a time. And then came Islam which destroyed so much of the Jewish and (Roman) Christian world, eventually even taking Constantinople in 1453. And now the rise of paganism and the seeming (I hope temporary) twilight of Christian civilization is taking place. No, I see a different reason for the upswelling of Jew hatred, and that is what we continue to stubbornly show the world, something that pagans find most objectionable.

It will for four years anyway. And after that? There are many splendid young Republican politicians waiting for “after that”, and we’ll need to elect one, for eight years this time. There is a huge difference between altruism and tzedakah…the altruistic notion and use of the “greater good” is but a wolf in sheep’s clothing designed to surreptitiously entrap people within a an us vs them paradigm. This is where welfare and victimhood, two sides of a coin, is used to keep those needy dependent upon those heralding themselves as their generous providers.
Tzedakah, as outlined in the Torah, is a mitzvah fulfilling G-d’s requirement for us to be mindful of others, specifically the poor, the widow and the orphan. In leaving the corners of a field un harvested, olives remaining after an initial shaking and grapes remaining after initial harvest and pressing allows for those less fortunate to come and themselves thresh the remaining grain, pick remaining olives and the residual grapes. G-d’s wisdom allows for the preservation of the poor, widow and orphan’s humanity and dignity while they work for their food instead of receiving handouts without any efforts of their own. In G-d’s providential economy tzedakah also creates multiplied receiving so that all benefit directly. Altruism as achieved today seems to be designed by the “us” using their power and resources against those they have defined as “them”. Rather than creating opportunities for independence and success, it creates generational dependence and fixation on hate and envy of others.
Jewish communities have long understood the responsibility of taking care of our own while also emphasizing education and hard work to provide opportunities for both ourselves and our children’s success in life.
In Gaza after 75 years steeped in baseless hatred they remain dependent on others who use them repeatedly. The differences are startling and those championing them are operating under the same assumptions. Hating we Jews for loving life and not glorifying death is a huge misfortune for those unwilling to face reality and work hard to create lives and a culture of their own deemed worth living in and making better.
The reaction of many, if not most western governments, and the media, academia, et al to the events of Oct. 7 reminds me of Churchill’s quote when Chamberlain returned to England from Germany before WWII:
“You were given the choice between war and dishonour. You chose dishonour, and you will have war.”
We may be on the cusp of a regional war which could easily morph into a global war. History gives little comfort for those who advocate peace and understanding. It does however, validate those who believe mankind is destined to continue to kill until the species is rendered extinct.
It’s like celebrating the anniversary of the bombing of Pearl Harbor by talking about the poor Japanese.
Let’s hope and pray YHVH is taking notes – and HIS scribes are jotting the names, facial recognition and DNA of these demonic possessed fools and they will be severely dealt with in this life as well as when they leave their corrupt decrepit mortal souls, Let the world’s outrage against this be heard and convict not only the culprits but those who celebrate the culprits of October 7, 2023 henceforth! Maybe the problem is that the Israel Defense Force is, in the words of one British military officer and close, longtime observer of the IDF, the most moral army in the world. They do absolutely everything to avoid every possible civilian casualty in their raids; they destroy property but take incredible pains to make sure that the areas they attack are empty of people, even belligerents. The US was, if not as careful as the Israelis, pretty good about avoiding civilian deaths. Do you think that the Muzzies will give up if they can be sure that their wives and children will be safe?
