The media left keeps screaming that Trump needs to do something about the Russian attacks. But ask them, “What?” Beyond words. And they break down into outraged mumbling.
Obama Inc. actually issued a stand down order on the attacks.
Former President Barack Obama’s cybersecurity czar confirmed Wednesday that former national security adviser Susan Rice told him to “stand down” in response to Russian cyber attacks during the 2016 presidential campaign.
Michael Daniel, whose official title was “cybersecurity coordinator,” confirmed the stand-down order during a Senate Select Committee on Intelligence hearing held to review the Obama and President Donald Trump’s administrations’ policy response to Russian election interference.
That’s not Obama’s only stand down order. There was a legion of them. And there were rules of engagement on cyberwarfare, just as there were when American soldiers were being murdered by the Taliban.
Now those rules are history. Thanks to that guy whom the media keeps screaming works for Moscow.
President Trump has reversed an Obama-era memorandum dictating how and when the U.S. government can deploy cyberweapons against its adversaries, in an effort to loosen restrictions on such operations, according to people familiar with the action.
Mr. Trump signed an order on Wednesday reversing the classified rules, known as Presidential Policy Directive 20, that had mapped out an elaborate interagency process that must be followed before U.S. use of cyberattacks, particularly those geared at foreign adversaries.
The change was described as an “offensive step forward” by an administration official briefed on the decision, one intended to help support military operations, deter foreign election influence and thwart intellectual property theft by meeting such threats with more forceful responses.
That’s how you actually “do something”. Obama crippled our ability to fight back. Trump is freeing us to do so.
