The Democrat primaries began with a roar and are ending with a whimper. Between the party uniting around Biden and the coronavirus decimating primaries, the Sanders campaign is on its last legs and Tulsi Gabbard, the last of the stragglers, is dropping out.
And endorsing Biden.
That last part can’t be a surprise.
Biden owes his spot in no small part to Tulsi Gabbard playing offense for him against Kamala Harris. And that sort of thing is rarely accidental in a Survivor primary setup where backdoor alliances between candidates are common. While much of the party may hate her, Gabbard and Biden have a connection, and she no doubt expects something from him, and may even receive it.
Even though her politics have far more in common with Bernie Sanders, Tulsi Gabbard played a clever game, getting Biden indebted to her, playing coy with Trump supporters, and then the Bernie crowd, while making it clear that it was always about her ambitions.
She’s a politician, you know.
“Today, I’m suspending my presidential campaign and offering my full support to Vice President Joe Biden in his quest to bring our country together,” Gabbard said. “although I may not agree with the vice president on every issue, I know that he has a good heart, and he’s motivated by his love for our country and the American people.”
Meanwhile some conservatives who fell in love with a calculating politician who has Bernie’s politics and Biden’s integrity might want to wake up.
Before Tulsi actually hits the trail and FOX News for Biden.
