Biden’s campaign manager and deputy campaign manager responded to the calls for their candidate to quit after a disastrous debate with emails that said debates don’t matter.
They pointed to polls showing that the debate didn’t change the race. And that’s probably true.
Anyone who was voting for Biden before the debate was really voting for lefty priorities and against Trump. Likewise, anyone voting for Trump was not about to switch to Biden. Undecideds were still undecided.
“The long-term impact of debates is overstated anyway,” Deputy Campaign Manager Rob Flaherty wrote while wrapping up with a quote from Chumbawumba: a Communist punk band everyone had long forgotten about except for that one song that still plays in bars and on radio stations playing the greatest hits of yesterday and today.
CNN: “An 81% majority of registered voters who watched the debate say it had no effect on their choice for president, with another 14% saying that it made them reconsider but didn’t change their mind. Just 5% say it changed their minds about whom to vote for.”
Rob may have a point. Biden voters didn’t really vote for him in 2020. They’re not voting for him now.
Maybe having a zombie candidate will dissuade some small number of independents who like their candidate to have a pulse, and that 5% is a pretty big number in what may well be a very narrow race anyway.
But Team Biden argues that no one is polling all that well anyway against Trump.
And that may be why the ‘alternative’ candidates like Gov. Newsom aren’t all that eager. Some Dems may have decided that the 2024 race is doomed anyway. Why not let Biden take the hit?

They have decided to call Trump “authoritarian” and “dictator” this time around. You know, because he make government less powerful. I’m not sure how that works.
Anyone who, after that debate, says that they’ll still vote for Biden must have their voter registration revoked for being too mentally compromised to have the franchise. Really, they want the guy who beat Medicare to have his finger on the nuclear button? That’s just insane.
The bureaucratic state employees and everyone on government jobs and welfare and government dependencies and many social security retirees will vote their pocketbook …. which is the big government deep state.
These government dependents have always been terrified that republicans and conservatives will impoverish them if given a chance. That is what the democrat leftist socialists tell them. And most believe it.
Trump and the Republicans somehow have got to mollify these people, and disabuse them from the depraved democrat leftist lies.
I hope there is a GOP strategy for getting most US citizens to recognize the absolute evil and danger the leftist democrats present to their own safety and well being and prosperity as well as their country.
So much is at risk in the 2024 November elections …. including the viability and survivability of America itself.
Ironically but not surprisingly, it was dems that did cut social security, by taxing it, and by blowing every dime of it as soon as they got their hands on it.
