The new Democrat moderation can be trusted as far as any con artist setting up his table outside a bank. It’s a routine that runs until they get their money. And the money are the Senate seats at stake in Georgia, a conservative state with two radical Democrats, Ossoff, an Al-Jazeera leftist, and Warnock, a radical friend of Jeremiah Wright, Obama’s mentor.
Warnock had signed on to a statement falsely accusing Israel of being an apartheid state, falsely describing Gaza, which is controlled by Hamas, as an “occupied” territory oppressed by Israel, and falsely claiming that “Jewish” people engage in “segregation”.
Warnock had defended Jeremiah Wright’s bigotry, but now said he disavowed antisemitism.
Ossoff had collaborated with Al Jazeera, Qatar’s violently antisemitic propaganda network, which backs Hamas, had featured calls for another Holocaust, and which had been sued by former employees for antisemitism.
But the Democrat policy right now is tread softly on their radical agenda.
Speaker Nancy Pelosi and her top lieutenants had a stark warning for Democrats on Thursday: Swing too far left and they’re all but certain to blow their chances in the Georgia runoff that will determine which party controls the Senate.
Emphasis here is the runoff. Once that’s determined they can go all in on their agenda. Unless they finally decide to go back to playing the long game.
If “we are going to run on Medicare for All, defund the police, socialized medicine, we’re not going to win,” House Majority Whip Jim Clyburn (D-S.C.) warned on the caucus call, according to three people listening.
That doesn’t mean that they don’t believe in them, just that they won’t run on them until they take the Senate.
Rep. Abigail Spanberger of Virginia, a Blue Dog whose race remains uncalled though she declared victory this week, grew angry as she warned her party against some of the rhetoric she argued hurt moderate Democrats like herself, saying the election results were a “failure.”
“No one should say ‘defund the police’ ever again,” Spanberger said on the call, according to two sources. “Nobody should be talking about socialism.”
Spanberger also warned that if Democrats kept up their tactics in 2022: “We will get f—— torn apart.”
