There was a saying that if you were old enough to fight in a war, you were old enough to vote. The UK has mostly dispensed with that war nonsense, but the voting age will be lowered to 16 to ensure that the Starmer regime and its current Labour government can maximize their turnout.
Which demographic might that be intended to aid?
“Young people deserve to have a stake and to have a say in the future of our democracy,” said Rushanara Ali, parliamentary under-secretary for local government in the House of Commons on Thursday.
Rushana Ali is a Bangladeshi Muslim who previously resigned to protest attacks on ISIS. Not by ISIS. On ISIS.
Much of the Muslim settler population in the UK is military age. 33% of the Muslim settler population is under 15. The purpose of this little gimmick is not only to boost a demographic that leans leftward, because really how many 16-year-olds will bother to vote? But when it comes to boosting turnout for a certain bloc voting demographic, this is exactly how it’s done.
